I have the amcrest. local sd storage for motion clips. if you have an NVR you can link it up to that for 24hr recording

@milamilady BRabbit do you like it? I've been thinking about replacing my ring, to get out of the cloud
by (2k points)
@balk yea i am really impressed with it. couple little things i hope they will fix in a future update, but its not a deal breaker. its only couple months old. I looked into the eufy but wasnt a fan of the vertical point of view. I had an Amcrest POE system already so what originally sold me was the capability if linking it to the NVR. Without the NVR i think it will a great buy as well at $100

@milamilady BRabbit I run a synology station and bought an amcrest camera because of the wide angle and like it. I have ring now but I don't pay for the cloud storage Do you get motion alerts? Can you set the field of motion?
by (2k points)
@balk yes there is motion notications, where you can set a schedule when they get sent to you (one gripe of mine, my old Nest used geofencing location for this). And yes, tou can set up a detection zone and how sensitive the zone is.

Eufy doorbell. Picked up 2 of them. Wired 135. 00 on Amazon. Wireless 200. 00 on Amazon. 2k video quality too.
by (1k points)
I just saw these in an email, and was looking for input on them. Have you installed them?
by (520 points)
@milamilady not yet, might do it this evening. If I do, I'll reply to this thread.

I watched a few videos on those, but I dont like that it wont use my existing chime. The plug in wireless chime seems very clunky to me.

+1 for Eufy. I've had mine installed since December when I moved. My previous home had a Ring doorbell and I find that Eufy seems to be much more responsive. I used to have a lot of issues with Ring not detecting motion or even ringing my phone when someone rings the doorbell, not to mention the monthly/yearly fee. No issues with Eufy in the time I've been using it.

I've had a good experience with the Eufy as well. The chime works well although I would prefer my old mechanical chime. You can also set up Alexa to make announcements when the doorbell button is pressed. And if that doesn't do it for you, you can get the battery version which will work with an existing chime. Here's a full write-up of my experience with the Eufy wired doorbell:

Do you have an NVR?
by (1.4k points)
Not at the moment, but am planning on one with PoE cameras around the house.
by (630 points)
@aguie6709 I've had good results with my Laview doorbell, but it's wifi. Not PoE
by (1.4k points)
Oh Wifi is OK for doorbell. Other cameras will be PoE.

@aguie6709 I pmd you

SkyBell. Now part of Honeywell I believe. No monthly payment. You can go back pretty far to look back at videos. And you can save right to your device

They seem like they have a good product but they have not released anything new in several years. The products they announced at CES never materialized and there is no new updates on their website. I fear they are dying.

Eufy or Hikvision depending on your needs. Persoanlly gone Hikvision so I also get 24 hour recording to my NVR. No subscription fees
by (180 points)
@foliolate are they hard to install if you have an existing NVR? I have Dahua Cameras and want to add a door bell.
by (550 points)
Do you have a model number?
by (2k points)
@conform very simple, I have a combination of Dahua and Hikvision cameras connected to a Hikvision NVR. The NVR is a ds-7608ni-k2/8p. The door bell option there are quite a few choices, also the option for various intercoms which work the same way but a few more features. The one below is what I originally brought

Then changed for their newer 2nd generation modular kits.
by (2k points)
They do also offer just normal doorbell version which I also used. Only reason for upgrading is because for more options with smarthome. I use the built in RFID tag reader to allow doors to be unlocked remotely etc
by (890 points)
@foliolate That seems like a good option. How are their video doorbells with with remote viewing? Can you use a your own NAS or do you have use their NVR? Can you add add other security cams to the system?
by (2k points)
@anticlastic remote viewing has been flawless for me. The Hik-connect app can cover all the equipment I have. I have attached some screen shots from the app. You can also use NAS, I use Synology NAS with extra licences as a secondary back up, these can also be live viewed remotely. I use a mix of Hikvision and Dahua cameras, but you can add any other makes as you wish. There are various options to add cameras but the main thing I use is Onvif compatible cameras for ease of setups
by (2k points)
That gives you an idea of day and night shots. This is a 2mp camera , it takes still shots as well as 24 hour recording. Works identical to Ring and nest. The bonus is this is POE. But there are options for wifi etc
by (890 points)
@foliolate Thank you for the info. What is the part # for what you are using to take those photos. Is there a fee to use remote viewing if you only use local storage?
by (2k points)
@anticlastic the model number for this one is DS-KD8003-IME1 There are no fees for remote viewing, you have the options of local storage, storage on the phone, tab, computer. The app is also free to use. Its called Hik connect, this is available for both Iphone/Ipad or android devices.

Agree with Eufy. I just installed two as DIY. FYI, if you install only one your transformer 120vac to 24 vac o/p only needs 20va (volt amps = watts). If installing two on same transformer ensure o/p transformer is rated for 40va. I used the following Honeywell transformer. The video and audio quality and motion detection is awesome.
by (1.4k points)
@nettie I would be only installing one. I just with the Eufy would use my editing chime. Hiw is the two way audio quality?
by (830 points)
Excellent. You can also modify the motion detection zone and sensitivity to exclude animal. If you turn on the IR feature it will assist any night usage.
