V3 or v2. Get them for $50

USD I assume? I am in Canada and they are about $100 CAD for v3 :-)

I’ve got two V3, no experience with the older ones but they work great.

Odds are pretty good you’re migrating from Wink as that seems to be a pretty hot issue right now. The question I have is why you would choose to opt for an older generation device to save twenty bucks at the risk of that older gen being phased out sooner than the newer one and landing right back where you started all over again?

Not trying to be a dick it’s just a perspective check

I wondered the same thing. If 20 bucks makes you pause for faster hardware and possible longer longevity.

I'd really look into Hubitat, here is a quick comparison video

@exophthalmos I looked into it and it has a lot more functionality than ST, but the app is super lacking right now.

How often do you actually use the app? Everything in our house is either controlled by voice, an automation with a sensor, or on a schedule. I can't remember the last time I opened an app to control anything other than to check in on things while on vacation

You won't be able to buy a V1 brand new anymore, you might be able to find V2s brand new but the V3 is just fine, get that.

Done! Bought from Staples. Will use another door before I pay Wink while I wait for my new hub to arrive!

@silvas62226 Was there a deal at Staples? I know Amazon has it on sale, which sold out very quickly.

Definitely V3. Why would you consider an deprecated model ?
by (120 points)
@lixivium3 cos $25 apparently. but to get v3 for $25 why wouldn't you get the best one available
by (2.6k points)
@lixivium3 the V3 is actually a step down performance wise. It's got less ram. The only real upgrade is that it can connect to your LAN wirelessly where as the V2 needs to physically plug into an Ethernet port. But I'd rather have it that way anyways

The only significant deference between V2 and V3 is that the v3 can connect to your LAN wirelessly
