I'm looking at Inovelli's new line of smart switches, can someone sum up the differences between the black and red lines? It sounds to me as if they both do basically all the same things, but the red line has the added ability to control your scenes at the switch. Am I interpreting this correctly?

Scene control on the reds, and I also believe being able to control the LEDs is limited to the reds as well BUT, I have both and I cannot get the scene control or the LEDs to respond as the child driver does not work (and the documentation is non-existent, it if it is, they make it impossible to find). I’m sure it will eventually get addressed but for now I’ve had no luck.

I have a Samsung SmartThings. I plan to buy mostly the black line, but I'm going to get one red one to play around with and see what I can do with it. I'll report back and compare notes.

I wouldn't necessarily say "control your scenes, " but it depends on your Z-Wave controller. The Red Series sends Z-Wave Central Scene commands with taps and multi-taps, and you can make your controller do whatever you want with those (they do not have to be "scene" or even lighting-related, necessarily). The other difference is that the Red Series has a "notification" feature for the LED bar, where you can temporarily or indefinitely set it to different colors/effects by modifying that parameter (e. g., flash green if motion at your door, pulse red if garage door is open, or whatever your controller can react to). On the Black Series, you get only single taps, no Z-Wave Central Scene commands (or third button for anything besides configuration), and no notification LED parameter. You *can* still change the default/on and off LED color and level on any.
