I have an in-ground pool with 2 motors, one for the filter and one for the robotic vacuum and I am looking for a way to make them "smart" to control turning them on/off from my phone. I need to be able to turn them on/off separately and would like to be able to program routines for them. Any ideas? I spoke to my pool man but he has only dealt with super complicated ones that run pool/spa combinations with valves etc. I was simple and cheap. Edit to add. they are currently plugged into outdoor 220v outlets. Thanks

If they just plug in to a wall socket you can just use a smart plug

They are plugged into 220v outdoor outlets

Use a wiska box and put a Sonoff switch inside

@jerricajerrie I'd check the motors to see the amp draw at start and still be weary of running any serious amperage through one of those.

If it's only a couple of pumps I can't imagine the draw would be too much, but you could always use a contactor as well housed in an IP rated adaptable box

Do you have any other Smart Devices?

Simple ones inside the house. outlets, switches, lightbulbs and alexa everywhere

And just added sprinkler control

@stoat sounds like no hub, so then WiFi it would be. Sonoff has something that might work but remember they are not UL approved so personally I'd look elsewhere. Also they are more amateur/DIY strip some wires and get some duct tape type of solution. I haven't done any 220v stuff so I'm not sure if you can find a Smart WiFi 220V plug or not. I did a quick search and didn't. But my choice would be a Smart WiFi Switch. Are the outlets controlled by a switch, or could a switch be added? If so, waterproofing is lots easier. Let us know what happens and good luck.

Prepare for disappointment and a green pool when your WiFi goes out.

@counteraccusation2 really? I'm sure if the WiFi goes out, they'll fix it fairly quick. You could always manually turn it on/off in that situation too.

. if you are home sure you could manually do it. I have had a pool most of my life and the one thing I know for sure is you want it on a very reliable schedule. I have my pool automated with a Jandy System and have the RS 232 control via their adapter. It’s the only real way to do this and have it be reliable.
