Almost any leak sensor will work for this - just extend some wires off of the terminals down to the level at which you want to be notified. SmartThings sensors are only $20 (require the SmartThings hub, of course)

Tap into the existing high level float switch with your preferred control system. If it's high voltage, use ice cube relays to create a contact closure. I do this with my septic and control4. I get notifications when my septic pump starts and stops running and if the septic alarm is activated. Some concept with a sump.

I like Sean's suggestion for tracking cycles, but I'd recommend going with a separate instrument for alarming. A little bit extra cash for a hi hi alarm could save a whole lot when the float switch malfunctions.
