This Tempy thermometer and humidity sensor: Initially, I wanted something to track temps and humidity so I could modify heating/cooling programs, adjust when the humidifier ran, modify six heating zones for efficiency and adjust the duty cycle for a fan that supplements heat for our master bedroom. I'm liking the features and thinking the price is OK for what you get, but I wonder if it is versatile enough. It doesn't say how it transmits to the hub. Can it be integrated into a HA or accessed via another hub of some kind? SmartThings or Google Home? I only have Alexa right now. It only works via their hub to router/internet and their app. The upper temperature range is not very high. Without a better probe you couldn't do an oven, for example. What also struck me was that, besides using it at home, it could possibly monitor some temperatures in my race car while on the track. It's range is 4000 feet! The only downside is that the upper temperature range is a bit low to be useful. Any thoughts about whether it could be hacked and a different thermal probe be used? Ideas on a different/better system?
