Anyone know how a SmartThings Motion Sensor works? I have one sitting on top of a SonosONE speaker (i. e. a big magnet) and it is doing weir things and I am wondering if the magnetic field may be impacting it. Thanks

It is unlikely to be magnetic interference but much more likely WiFi. ZigBee signals are much lower power than WiFi, and if both are on overlapping channels, will became slow to respond, or completely blocked. Since Wifi is a 2-way radio system, when you are streaming content to your Sonos speaker, it is also transmitting back to your router to acknowledge data packets are received. You could experiment with changing channels, and with separating them.

Well it does have a magnetic backing on it for mounting purposes

Yes . it is the one above . it has a magnet to fix it to the ball bracket. The lights are not turning off and I have a rule that says 'if no movement then turn off' . I have lots of these in the house, all function normally and I am wondering if I have permanently damaged this one. I have tried taking it off the speaker to see if this makes a difference but no change . so just looking to see if the magnet in the speaker could somehow perma damage it? or if it makes no difference sitting on the speaker. Thanks in a advance

@sagerman59 check it in the app to see what it says. May need to repair it or replace the battery

@hague I replaced the battery as my first thought - so is 100%. What do you mean ‘repair’?

@sagerman59 in the app, go to add a device and then put the device in pairing mode once you've done that and it hopefully restores the device.
