Question

Where can I figure out what is turning off a device? I repurposed and renamed an old Leviton zwave plug switch to another use. It keeps turning off at 5am every day. I dont see a scheduled event anywhere in my smart lighting app. Alexa doesnt have a schedule for it. When I look in the logs I can see the device state changed to off, but the events prior to that are some cryptic information from the hub (index 3a, headers and body).

Pull up the device in the app (classic) then look at the “recently” tab and it should list what routines are executing task for that individual device.

@hokkaido just tells me "switch off". Doesnt say what task requested that to happen.

@pembrook should see something like this in the “recently” tab. In this example, the piston name or routine name circled is what caused the action. You can then track down that specific routine to troubleshoot.

If you don't get any joy from the apps, you can try the IDE (account. smartthings. com). List your Devices, select the plug, and List Events from near the bottom of the device page. You should see a table of events and above the table there will be a line with various options such as 'displayed' and 'all'. You want to choose 'all'. This is only going to work for the older style apps such as Smart Lighting and webCoRE. Automations in the new app won't reveal themselves.

@navarro thanks. About all I get from the logs is that the command was sent to turn off and the switch changed its state to off. So I know the hub is telling it to turn off. Just can't tell what's telling the hub to turn it off.
