Curious if anyone has the skinny on the community installer. I added it, but believe I only saw 10-15 apps that it had the ability to install. 2. 5 years after creating I don't imagine that could have been the vision. Is it dead?

Nope still works well - especially for updates. It defends on the smartapp developers working with him to allow being added to community installer.

I hear ya, being new I was just a little excited about the idea, figured after that long more Devs would be interested. Great way to get their stuff out there.

It would be nice if more apps were added to it for sure - a lot easier than going into the ide to install.

That’s about all you need really. And probably won’t be any good in a year or two after Groovy goes away.

@crabstick4604 when that happens will app like Blue Iris Fusion and Echo Speaks be deprecated?

@likelihood depends if those devs can build the same thing with the new tools or not.

@crabstick4604 groovy is going? I didn’t know?

@abstractionist3923 yes, eventuality. SmartThings is replacing all of its internal apps currently.

@crabstick4604 I got a few of fairly old device handlers where development hasnt really happened for some time. I guess I’m going to loose that functionality unless someone (cleverer than me) converts it to whatever comes next?

@abstractionist3923 well device handlers are a bit different. Right now I’ve seen no other path forward for Zigbee or zwave device handlers that the current Groovy handlers. Cloud connected devices should be connected to SmartThings via their new ST schema option.
