I'm looking for a very simple way to have an indicator light for a sensor. Specifically, I'd like to have an LED that is green when my garage door sensor is closed and red when the door is open. Is there a cheap and simple Zwave or Zigbee LED or something that would serve my use case? I'd prefer something I could connect out of the box and then customize the automation.

I have one LED that turns white if there is a light on, another that's red if there is a door open, one that flashes green if there is a motion on the cameras and still have a few more available to use. I have this in my bedroom and at any time during the night I can glance over to see the status of most things.

Or you can get a light switch with LED lights that can be programmed for conditions.

The currently onsale Lightify led strings maybe. they are zigbee. does the door already have open/close sensor? I got a set and use WebCore to set the color based on an outdoor thermometer.

@confection I have an open/closer sensor already, I'd just like to add a simple indicator inside as well.

@pitts7572 I'd do what @confection said.

In smart things I created a rule that when the door is closed and locked the bedroom light is 5% brightness green when unlocked or disarmed blue and open red 100%

I did this with a red 12v LED connected to a Sonoff SV ($8 from Banggood). I had to flash it to work with SmartThings which was easy with a YouTube video. Took more work than maybe you’re looking for, but it was cheap! .
