Guys, My Smartthings v2 motion sensor battery was low, so i replaced the battery. Now my motion sensor won't report any motion. Any idea how to fix it?

Pair it again

It's not difficult to do, it will take less than a minute

Did you use the right CR2450 batteries? These require a brand that has a wide shoulder. Is it showing a online status in the IDE? Is temperature reporting in the app or IDE?

But what brand of battery?

@penguin since it is reporting temperature. I would try a new battery. 33% is about where mine stop reporting motion. Drops from 33% to 1%. Mine also get a little erratic in lower temperatures with 33% batteries also.

@postimpressionism my sensor specifically says Panasonic or Duracell on a label under the battery.

@penguin it reports only 33% battery because the firmware is messed up. Nothing you can do about it. It is still in reality 100%. As I tell everyone in this group, if you don’t have a cheap digital voltmeter or battery tester you should. Almost every smartthings brand sensor has horrible battery reporting. It may tell you it’s 15% when in reality it is 100%. So you then start throwing away good batteries. In Nov 2018, SmartThings released a bunch of firmware updates that screwed them all up. Especially V2’s. Get a battery tester and make sure voltage is above 2. 8v or throw it away. Secondly the older sensors V1 & V2, work best with “Panasonic” brand since they have a larger shoulder to line up with the contact in the sensor. You can use other brands rather easily by placing a small piece of foil on the contact. As far as no motion being reported, you need to reset the sensor. Very easy and you don’t even need to remove it from smartthings. Just push and hold the reset button on the sensor until the led lights up or blinks. Then put your hub in pairing mode and it should re-find it. There are plenty of youtube videos on how to do this.

@penguin I just put a brand new battery in this sensor this afternoon. Already showing 67%. This is common issue with these.

Yep common for it to drop battery percentage and I've put 4 in the bin due to motion part if the sensor working. Since moved to fibaro as the build quality seen to be better

Do you have a automation set to not report motion when someone is home or between certain hours?

As someone already suggested, pair it again!

Battery contacts are known to be iffy. Might have to carefully bend them to make good contact with battery.
