I have 3 Arlo cameras that i got black friday 2018. The motion activation is slow and will start recording after the person or object has left the camera view. Sometimes they wont even go off when pulling into the driveway or walking i the front door. I contacted customer service and had poor help. They sent a new base station but still didnt improve. Any suggestions?

I also tried taking the motion up to 100% sensitivity with no success.

The angle makes a big difference. A person walking directly towards a camera seems to get missed. Move camera to the side and person walking up angled gets caught more often.

@darkness windows, glass or shiny objects do affect the cameras motion sensors.

@darkness, this looks like ‘What not to do’, you need more angle, then they Will catch movement a hell of a lot better!

The object has to cross the path of the sensor. Head on is less sensitive

I know your pain. Mine are the same way. Nothing seems to make it any better. The only thing Arlo is doing right is their add campaigns, getting everyone to buy them.

@paucity496 yup. My mother i law has some and hers work perfect. She has a different base tho. Hers is flat and rectangular. Mine is round and small. Whats yours? Not sure if that base is not very good or what.

Garage cam at mine is the same way. They work best when they go across the camera screen.

Your modem location and internet strength play a big part in recordings and delays. Cameras detect much better when an object goes from side to side rather then straight on to the camera.

Sounds like a network infrastructure and/or speed issue to me. I’ve only seen this happen in areas with substandard WiFi or dead spots

Why if these are “security cameras” do they NOT work for the “costumers needs” and needs to be set up for the poor quality of the company’s needs ? They need to be within 15-20’ at an angle ? Do I need to build a security hut(birdhouse)to place them in a way they will be effective ?

I used to say the same, but my front gate often has people walking on the side walk. Now if they were casing out my house and are in my camera’s range then the video starts recording.
