I've had good luck with an old unused iPad2 (second generation, 30 pin connector) using a refurbished iPort Launch wall mount I found on ebay. The iPad runs ActionTiles and has uptimes measured in months before the safari browser process crashes and needs to be relaunched. The iPort ipad case and base unit set me back less than $50, I'll consider the iPad free because it's so old and slow it has no residual value.

@zoi94088 - what about screen time out?

Not an issue, screen can be kept on ful-time.

My Fire 10 & 8 work great. Would prefer something with actual Android rather then the fork Amazon has, but for the money the few quirks are not bad.

Is there a bad tablet? I run an ancient ipad2 with kiosk browser stuck it in a picture frame and not a single problem in two years. I fire7 downstairs with same setup same results. Actiontiles does all the work. ‍♂️

Fire HD 8 and a iPad air. I have had zero issued using the iPad. The fire tablet took some leg work to get working properly. If I could do it again I would get a full android tablet over the fire tablet if you can get something comparable in price.
