Does anyone know of any WIRED contact sensors that can integrate into smartthings? Native integration preferred, but I won't hold my breath.

This question is related to home automation (e. g. lights turning on/off) and not home security.

Phil, you could purchase this from AliExpress for $5 and flash with Konnected software.

@vouchsafe12715  I’ll have to look into konnected. I’ve heard of it before, but let me tell ya I know NOTHING about it. I’ve smartthings’d myself to the max, so s

Its a nice setup that’s easy to work with and they have lots of documentation on their website. Consider joining the Facebook users group too. Lots of people ready to help

If it’s anything like this group, I believe you. This group is great. Other people’s questions have helped me figure out things that I didn’t even know I haven’t figured out and everyone is always super cool/helpful. Very rare anymore to see that.

@forbes, not only is it a helpful group, Mate and Andy from Konnected regularly answer questions there.

And I bought it because I wanted the wired sensors to trigger things in the house. I have an autistic nephew that likes to slide out the front door sometimes, so when he is there and that sensor opens, the Alexa’s in the house announce that the front door has been opened.

What's your use case? I have a thought, but may not be applicable

I have contact sensors on closet doors so that lights turn on/off when opened/closed, and for my bathroom I have it so that if the lights won't turn off in 15 minutes if the door is closed (because that means someone is in there)

@forbes yeah my idea would not look good there. The Mimolite controller can take a wired magnetic sensor, but would be pretty ugly

Use a multiporpuse sensor. ($16 each)

This wouldn't be native integration, but I use a board from this company , pulled out my unused security system and wired all the sensors to their board and the sensors now work in smartthings, pretty flawlessly I might add.

@liger Highly recommend this solution.

I've had it about a year, works great. I have 2 panels with 10 pir sensors connected, replaced the old burglar alarm. Fast and reliable and easy to install

Konnected stuff is highly recommended

Just as an addition, I know Konnected is working on a native integration with the launch of their konnected cloud.

Do you have the wired sensors already or looking to buy some ? my home already had a wired alarm and I use Konnected Alarm - works great all the time. Just buy the prebuilt adapters or build your own using Node MCU (really easy actually I am not much of a techie but I succeeded easily enough)

I don’t have them integrated with Smartthings with Konnected (I opted to separate security from home automation), but the retro ring kit works for wired sensors if anyone wants to get the Ring alarm.

Any Konnected. io installers in the UK South East ?

@liger King have a look at the Konnected website, all seems pretty straightforward to do, no installer needed

I use smart window/door sensors that have wired connections for remote contact closure. They allow you to get wired sensors into SmartThings, but they are not very reliable long term due to cosmic ray bit flipping.

A lot of the regular zwave/zigbee sensors have terminals for hardwired external sensors. You can get plain magnetic reed door/window contact sensors cheap.
