Thermostat lockout/limiter?  I’m looking for a way to keep employees from setting a temperature above or below a set point.Thermostat lockout/limiter? I’m looking for a way to keep employees from setting a temperature above or below a set point. I don’t want to put a plastic lockbox on it because I do want them to be comfortable but, sometimes it turns into a power struggle between the larger ladies and the smaller ladies,  Edited to add must work with smartthings hub

My GoControl Z-Wave thermostats have a high temp limit for heat and a cool temp limit for cooling. So if you wanted your employees to be able to turn the heat up to 72° F but no higher, it would stop them at the upper limit. Easy.

There's a guy on eBay selling used ones for $24, I've been installing them in client houses. They're basic, work with ST and have proven very reliable. Battery or C wire or Transformer power.

@sixpack I have these! I would love more instruction. Is it on unit or is there an app for that!

The upper/lower limit is in the menus on the thermostat itself. Nobody will know how to get the menus, they're not exactly labeled or intuitive. So very unlikely they'd be able to change it on you. If you want a backup, I could make a Webcore piston that put it back down if someone managed to set it above your limit. I said 72°, None Shall Pass.

Give me until this evening and I'll find how to walk you through the wonderful menu system.

@sixpack Found it! Thank you so much. I really appreciate you. Thanks to everyone.

Awesome, get the limits set? See why I don't think your employees will be likely to override your limits? Another option, you could create a Webcore piston that temporarily allowed a limit higher than what you'd like, so that (for example) after one hour it turns itself back down to your limit, but let's them go past for short periods.

Get an ecobee, configure your acceptable range, add a code to secure settings so that the range can't be changed and done. I do this in my Airbnb so that people can't set it to some ridiculous number where the ac runs forever but still allows guests some amount of control

I have 2 Honeywell TH8320Z thermostats in my house. They have the ability to set upper and lower ranges built into their programming, and they are around 5-6 years old now. Don't think you need ST in order to accomplish your use case.

Put a smart button near their cubicles. tell them one push for hotter and two pushes for colder. (non function). then lock the thermostat

I am a hvac guy. As others have said most of the Honeywell thermostat models have settings on the stat itself that limits high and low temperatures. As well as SmartThings compatible. I have preferred the Honeywell products for 30+ years so I’m probably biased.
