Mildly off topic, here.  But I know a lot of people here use things like ActionTiles, or custom setups.Mildly off topic, here. But I know a lot of people here use things like ActionTiles, or custom setups. Anyone have any suggestions on a 10"+ tablet, where the only functionality needed is to be able to access a web url? I'm looking for something that isn't really going to require any setup effort. So things like building something with raspberry pi doesn't quite fit. My go to at the moment seems to be an Amazon Fire 10. But $150 seems a bit overboard for what I'm doing. Just scanning to see if there's a better choice.

You do know that ActionTiles *is* only web based, right? Runs great on a Fire 10.

Yeah I'm aware. ActionTiles isn't what I'm going to use it for, and I'm feeling cheap when it comes to just needing a touch screen that sits with a web page open. I already have a Fire 10 here, but I'd prefer to keep that set aside to use for ActionTiles and find something more basic for this use.

Get a fire 8 when they are on sale about 50 bux. I have 3 of them wall mounted.

I need at least a 10" display to fit the formatting cleanly, and without having tiny buttons.

Then get the 10 . they are a great tablet. I have one. You can catch a sale on those for 100.

Yeah, I have one and it does work great for my use case. But I'd prefer to keep this one aside for ActionTiles, and I'm trying to be really cheap in this case. :-) I'm kind of eyeing the Dragon Touch K10s. Just put in an offer on e-bay for two of them at $42 each. Will see what comes of that.

Generic andorid tablets are fine. avoid amazon crap

@manichaeism disagree. Fire tablets are the fastest for the money by far. Easy to get the amazon crap off of them, making them a great value for the hardware

I also wish there was a touchscreen that was so basic and budget friendly to simply run something like this or just actiontiles. I have Fire HD 8's and they are simply overkill with a ton of bloatware in my opinion for what is needed in a wallboard.

Yeah this is pretty much where I've been on this. I don't mind getting some fire 10s if it comes down to it. It just seems unnecessary. I honestly feel like it would be better just build something with a raspberry pi and touch panel, but I'm not feeling the effort. Think I'm going to try some Dragon Touch 10 inch tablets. Good reviews on quality and screen response. All that's really needed.

There may be a spot in the market for someone to produce something to fill that gap.

10" tablets don't really have cheap options. Might be able to find something used on eBay, but otherwise the Kindle tablets are the cheapest you can get.

Yeah, that seems to be the case. I'm trying for some used Dragon Touch tablets at the moment.
