It’s the easiest thing ever. Step 1. Install lutron switches Step 2. Pair switches to lutron hub Step 3. Sign in to lutron on SmartThings

Maestro won’t work but the Caseta line is awesome.

Yeah, I went in knowing that, but I'm excited to have the timer for the bathroom fan

@horning64 There is a Caseta fan control - might work
by (1.2k points)
I saw the fan control, but it looked like it was more intended for ceiling fans.

@leonoraleonore the regular on off switch works with bathroom fans. The fan control is only for ac ceiling fans.

@postimpressionism yes. I use several 6 amp Caseta switches to do this.

Or do this. Smart enough for bathroom fans.

I use caseta with smartthings. It just works like @bootlace said. The only issue is you can't get the caseta remote controls to work on smart things. The caseta switches are by far the most reliable light switches I have a used. The even have a ELV magnetic dimming that works with most LEDS, unfortunately that switch is $100.

@nedrud the pro model will work on everything except ELV. It’s $60 and I pair them with a triac dimmable MLV commonly found on amazon

Yeah. I usually try that first and when that does the blinky blink blink then I know I need the expensive one.

@nedrud I use my Caseta remotes in my 3 way switch applications and it works fine with Smart Things. I also have the Lutron hub though

@lip58057 Have you been able to get the smartthings to 'see' the lutron remotes? Cuz I want to use the remotes to control other things that's not lutron.
by (15k points)
@nedrud there's a workaround to do it but it's pretty elaborate and IIRC requires a computer or raspberry pi online at all times to work. I can try to find the link if you're interested

@nedrud I can't remember if the remote shows up in ST. I deliberately hide the remotes in the apps. That would be a great function if you can get it to work.

To expand on my question: How do you guys handle your automations? I see some people do that mostly in the Lutron app, and others do it in ST. I use the classic app, and have most of my automation set up in WebCoRE.
by (12.9k points)
@horning64 continue to use WebCoRE as always. It’s just another switch in ST.
by (280 points)
The lutron automation is not that useful. I use the smartthings api for most of the automation.

@horning64 every switch in my house is Lutron. Continue using webCoRE. Most reliable items in my setup

Did it right away and have never had any issues. Love the integration.

Regarding fans: I'm going to stick with the Maestro fan control for the bathroom fan, but I am curious what you guys have done for ceiling fans. My bedroom ceiling fan is dumb, and I don't have a neutral wire (old house). The Caseta fan control switch requires the neutral. Maestro, on the other hand, does not require a neutral wire and can handle both the light and the fan on the single switch. So, it looks like Maestro is the best option, unless someone has other ideas. My living room fan has a remote, so I'm considering getting the BOND controller for that one and just covering the dumb wall switch.

@horning64 fan options. Lutron Hunter canopy module Moderns Fans Handful of other WiFi platforms

@horning64 Bond has worked well for me. The only issue is using multiple platforms. Also, there are no discrete on/off buttons so if you use the remote to control the fan, the Bond controller does not update.

Like others have said, it's incredibly easy. The Pico remotes are amazing to use as additional switches without and wiring.

The Pico remotes are also awesome for controlling a bank of lights with one control. For example, my kitchen has 9 lights on 4 light switches, and I use one Pico to control all of them at the same time.

I can't be the only one who hates their dimmers. Stupid 3 buttons.

@avner Feinstein I hate that they are flat but Clear Connect works well. And they integrated with my Savant system.

If anyone's interrsted. I got a Lutron Caseta P-BDG-PKG1W bundle that was used for about 2 months before i switched to a different option. I'd love to trade or get rid of it.
