Hi, I’m just looking for some advice, I have a holiday booked at the beginning of June to turkey with teletext, we’ve paid a deposit and the rest of the payment goes out on 1st April, I’ve tried to contact them and their lines are shut and no response via email either, do I pay the rest of the amount and hope they cancel on us and refund or ask my bank to refuse the rest of the payment and lose the deposit? Any advice would be much appreciated.

I'd say your best waiting for them to cancel (assuming they will cancel) as you won't lose money that way. I'm booked to go away in May with Jet2 and just playing the waiting game. Theres no point in me cancelling as would lose money that way

If you cancel you lose your money, I have a holiday booked with Teletext for June too, so I am waiting for them to contact me.

@innocuous4 don't bank on them contacting you , we were due to go to Portugal on March 20th , they didn't contact us , we had to phone them & they were less than helpful , we were told we could not get a refund & would have to decide within 2 weeks which alternative date we would like to book ! To cut long story short, I argued with them about their legal obligations to us & following lengthy waits on the phone , was told they would email airways & hotel & then get back to us , still bloody waiting !

Pay it for now, we’re booked for Portugal late April and guidelines are if/when this is sorted and flights start up again as government lockdown ends you can change details or get a refund. If you stop you lose everything

Martin Lewis said on his show the other night , if it not too big a loss on the deposit he would cut his losses and not pay any more

@side85 that’s exactly that I done I didn’t fancy paying thousands and then the stress of chasing it up

That is something we have considered because we would rather lose £250 than £1500 it’s a really tough call

@hurwit all flights to Tenerife were cancelled on the 15th March, we didn't claim on our insurance it was all done automatically by VillaPlus. If the flights are cancelled then you can't go so not an insurance claim, if booked as a package. Not covered if booked separately, though think if paid with credit card you can go down that route. X

The perks of booking with a real person come into their own here. I have and will be available to talk this through with all of my customers as time goes on. I'd encourage changing dates until later to be honest.

Don't pay the rest of your holiday let them contact you. If they cancel your holiday, then you only have the deposit argue about
