Hi there, everyone.  I joined WW the week Of Thanksgiving.Hi there, everyone. I joined WW the week Of Thanksgiving. (Seriously, Lol) and gave up shortly after the first of the year. I’ve watched so many people express how many pounds they lost in such a short amount of time. In the six weeks I tried WW green, I lost nothing! Not. One. Pound. I’m not even 5’1, and I weigh 150 pounds. I SHOULD NOT weigh that much for being such a little person. It’s so discouraging when I see other people lose 20 pounds in a month. A couple of my friends who have had success with this program have said it’s “because I’m not a bigger girl who has a lot to lose like they do” Is that true? I have given up pop, iced coffee, pizza, chips, I limit myself to eating out once per week. What gives? Could it be genetics that prohibits my body from losing weight? I’ve been considering liposuction. I’d love some feedback, please! Thanks I’m advance!

Are you weighing and measuring your food? Tracking? Drinking your water? It sounds like you did a great job giving up things

@lemberg43428 I stopped tracking and measuring. I do need to step up my water game though.

Try a different color plan-maybe green wasn't the correct plan for you. I am on Blue and it works for me as long as I work the plan. Plan your meals all of them-track every bite you put in your mouth and drink water
by (810 points)
@hognut96 yes! Blue is easy to do -and lose weight. But you’ve gotta stick with it.
by (22k points)
I have done well but in the last couple of weeks I am slacking- I do online and meetings both- I miss my meetings they keep me accountable for some crazy reason. All in my mind I know
by (1.3k points)
@sidetrack When I saw how low the points are for blue, there’s no way I could do that. I tried blue for a couple days and literally ate my points in two-three things. I switched back to Green.
by (8.5k points)
@hognut96 get a friend to do it with you. Must Change your way of eating. Use your 200 free foods if on blue and focus on them. Then you only count what’s not on that list. Have to track.

@romaromagna9088 I don’t know how to use the extra points or the weekly points.

@seizure weekly is what I meant. if you go over it just pulls from there . I was just curious.

Have you tried Purple? I’m 5’2. Started at 170! I’m down 26 pounds since Jan 25. Been exercising and following Purple.

@folketing No, I’ve only tried the green and blue. Green seems to be more reasonable.

Are you tracking EVERYTHING- good and bad? Weighing/measuring portions? Drinking lots of water? Do you take medications or have a condition that inhibits weight loss? Do you watch portions on 0 pt foods? - they're not unlimited. Just some thoughts.
by (1.3k points)
@meperidine363 Paul I was tracking everything truthfully and became frustrated when I wasn’t seeing any progress. I know I need to drink more water. And I’m usually on meds for depression but I stopped taking them.

Take it from someone who has lost a 100 pounds. Yes the more you weigh the faster you lose it in the beginning. The older you are and the less you have to lose the harder it is to lose it. You will also have to keep in mind that there are things that will slow your metabolism down and that is what you need to concentrate on. Drink more water and get more exercise and get more sleep. And by all means eat a ton of leafy green vegetables every single day!

I haven’t exercised since the pandemic started since we aren’t supposed to leave our homes. I was tracking truthfully in the beginning. When I didn’t see any progress, I stopped. Breakfast I have a light multigrain 100 calorie English muffin with a little butter and sprinkle with garlic powder. And I have a cinnamon dolce k cup with a strict Tbsp of creamer. A snack, I usually have a banana and peanut butter. Sometimes my lunches and dinners vary. I know I don’t drink as much water as I probably should. I got upset and threw my scale in the trash. I’m on Welbutrin for depression but even stopped taking that. I was tracking and measuring everything. I just got to the point where I saw no progress and gave up completely.

I started WW April 2016 on what is now the green plan. I am 5'7" and weighed 246. I lost at a good rate until I hit 180. I couldn't lose that last 20 for anything. I quit. I gained. I came back in January with realistic expectations. I am on Green again. Good luck. You got this!

Nope you are eating more calories than you are using. Either your not watching serving sizes, not weighing your food for correct tracking, eating to many zero foods, or not moving enough. Go to the doctor get a physical make sure you are not diabetic then get more persistent with weigh. and measuring your foods

I have been doing this for a month yesterday and have been riding my elliptical 5 days a week and gained 3 lbs. don’t tell me it’s muscle unless you call my belly muscle. I look like I’m 5 Months pregnant. So I track everyday too. Today I tracked and just Wanted to see my calorie intake. Thinking I would just burn more than I ate. Simple right. Well I ate 1000 calories. I have a Sit down job. So when am I supposed to burn over 1000 calories. I actually cried this morning when I stepped on the scale this morning
by (27.2k points)
@zhao4502 you’re not eating enough for the amount of exercise you’re doing. Yes it sounds strange but your body is holding onto the fuel you eat to allow you to do the exercise. So be sure to eat all of your daily points and a few weeklies if you need to. Try to make it a protein.
by (1.3k points)
@zhao4502 I feel ya. I too have a sit down job, too. I’m in the same boat- where and when am I supposed to burn those calories? I try and walk when I’m done working if it’s not too cold. I feel like walking isn’t enough and with everything shut down due to the pandemic, I don’t have a lot of options left.
by (1.9k points)
@forficate36964 I do eat my daily points and sometimes over
by (1.9k points)
@seizure o have an elliptical so I have NO excuse. So frustrated
by (27.2k points)
@zhao4502 my other suggestion is try exercising every other day. I know for me personally if I exercised every day I gained. My body needs a day of rest to rebuild my muscles.

Hey, I am 4’ 11” and weighed 163 pounds and lost -50 lbs and have kept it off 4 years so far. The green plan that was smarts points a few years ago same plan is how I lost my weight. I would  to know exactly what you are eating. If you eat within your points and measure and weigh everything you will lose. I did find that I could never touch my weeklies and safely lose any weight. Yes, I did change what and how I eat. Yes, you are told if you just stay within your points you will lose. I don’t agree, if I used all my points on what everyone calls “junk food” or mostly on that food I would not have lost either. Tracking and I mean really tracking is key to WW you can’t wonder why no lose in weight if you don’t track this or that all the time. Also, you need to eat your points. I eat every point every day. It did take me a long time to lose -50 lbs but was the best decision I could have made. Without knowing exactly what you are eating no way to tell why no loss and yes you can lose the weight with no exercise. I did not exercise until I lost most of my weight. Keep at it. Talk to a coach on the app. It does seem you are cutting things out that is junky. I am 49 so age is not a factor. You can do this don’t give up.

I am about to tell you I understand your issue. I am 5’1 also. My journey has had ups and downs and right now I am doing good. The only thing I can control now is my food and activity. Unless you are handicapped in some way get outside with a mask and gloves! Walking is not illegal unless you go in big groups. Stay 6 ft from any others. Sitting inside is depressing! If you are working during this time, thank you for helping all of us get through this mess. I am home and I am doing the purple plan. But it’s more about not drinking too much alcohol for me. Make yourself do something everyday to make a difference in your outlook! I hope you can find something in these comments that will help you! Don’t quit! Try for 140 by July!

by (1.7k points)
Agree 100% with @assignation715 on the water. Take your weight, divide it in half, drink that in ounces. I think it makes all the difference. Track everything that goes in your mouth, every day. Make sure veggies are in the equation and fruits too, not just processed foods. Take walks if you can. Great for exercise and for your mind and mood.

Are you mentally ready for the lifestyle change? If you're not mentally ready, nothing you do will make you loose weight. Figure out the WHY behind your eating: bored, stressed, past trauma. and work on that. Once you're mentally in the game, you'll see loses.

I am 58 years old, 4'11" and started purple 8 weeks ago and have lost 9. 9 pounds. Yes, 8 weeks for 10 pounds. Track, exercise and drink water. It is hard work. Don't give up. Eat salads or veggies. We eat a lot of chicken and veggies. Eat a boiled egg for a snack instead of banana and PB. Try other foods.
by (1.3k points)

by (1.5k points)
Bummer. Look at the free point foods and chose something there for your snack. I know WW says you can eat "anything" but I do stay away from high fat foods, like PB. I can't stop at 1 tsp. I eat a lot of fruit and FF yogurt. And a big salad for lunch. There is always a 1 point soup in my fridge.

Sometimes weight watchers works, but you need to kick start your metabolism with a different type of exercise. HIT and some weights. Weight watchers works. But losing weight is hard. It’s hard for me. I lose very very slowly it not at all, but stay the same, which is better than gaining which is what I used to do. Each person has their own journey. Consistency is key. Good luck!

You say green is more reasonable, why is that? You said you eat all your points in 2-3 things on blue. Maybe you’re eating more than your body needs and you like green because it’s ‘easy’ but you’re not losing anything because the plan is give you too much room to continue eating how you already eat. It sounds like you could really dedicate to the program and see success! I’m on purple and have lost 8. 7 lbs in 6 weeks. So after three weeks on green I switched back to blue, the loss has been steady but slow. But, slow and steady wins the race. I’m down 21 pounds, I’m 5’3”. I experimented last week, ate all my weeklies, didn’t help me at all. I have to stay just under my 23, and eat protein with every meal. I only consume carbs in the morning before noon. I switched to blue and that's been slow but at least gradually going down in weight. Slow but steady. And I've learned the points are so different, too. Some of my friends have to use all their dailies and more, some just dailies, some very few. For me I've found using almost all dailies but never weeklies works for 2 lbs avg a week. It's taken a while to figure this out. Different for everyone.

You didn’t put it on overnight so you’re not going to take it off overnight try a different plan until you find one that’s right for you I am on purple because I can still do pasta and bread and cheese and mayonnaise I just learned to change an compromised I change things like the pasta and bread to whole wheat those are zero points I use light mayonnaise because I can’t stand fat Free and I saved a lot of my points for cheese because I love cheese you can get the 45 cal bread and there’s two points for two slices oatmeal is my nighttime go to I put sugar free maple syrup on it. 0 points you can do it. It’s been slow for me I have lost a total of 13 pounds and I haven’t done any exercise is because I had reconstructive surgery and a hip replacement so all I’m doing is being conscious of what I put in my mouth and tracking is very important and drinking lots of water I’m 59 but I’m a big girl I started out at 218 pounds and I wanted to get the weight off my hip

@panties how many points a day is purple? I love pasta, bread, and cheese. Maybe I should switch to purple!
by (6.8k points)
@seizure Sorry I said 26 but it is 16 points. But you get like 42 extra points for the week and the zero points is where your pasta is come in and that’s where I’m at I do brown rice I make up all kinds of concoction with rice I use xylitol and Monk fruit sweetener but my sweet tooth is slowly disappearing
by (6.8k points)
I sometimes do cake in a cup that’s three points and then for another three points I think it is use sugar-free dark chocolate chips and mix in with it if you want
by (2.3k points)
Yep, the same here. I joined the week before our state ordered stay at home so no meetings. IF I could have lost it on my own, I wouldn't need to meet or pay for no help. Virtual meetings are not working on my phone. (or I can't figure it out. )
by (6.8k points)
@bernoulli I can’t figure them out either I just figured if I’m going to pay for something I’m going to be all or none so I had to find something to hold myself accountable for I love the barcode and the tracking I had to figure that I want to do this for me I’m not compress somebody else it was really hard right at first but I just started filling up with a lot of 0 cal and not just help me get through the day
by (2.3k points)
I looked the zero list again today. I only ate 2 meals yesterday. (with berries for snacks twice) No coke!
by (6.8k points)
@bernoulli that will cause you to hold weight even gain. You have to eat the points and food it has to be mind set and a life style change. You gotta eat or it won’t work
by (2.3k points)
Thank you, I'll try to improve my plan and plan the day better. Cabin fever may be getting to me. Walk definitely. thank you for the advice, WW buddy!
by (6.8k points)
@bernoulli you’re welcome I’m still new and learning. I know I’m no cover girl J just want to be healthy and live my life to the fullest

This is my 3rd time doing ww. The last time I did ww it took me about 2 years to lose 40lbs. It gets to me as well. When people post they’ve lost a certain amount of wgt in a short period of time. But I’m happy for them and just try to stay focused.

Many of us started out weighing a lot more than you did, so the weight will come off faster at first. The closer we get to our goal weight, the slower the weight comes off. It takes determination and perseverance to be successful. Also, changing what and how we eat is only part of what makes WW work. WW is not a diet, it is a lifestyle, a change in not just what we eat, but what we do and how we think. Exercise, even if just for 20 minutes three to four days a week, will help you lose weight along with eating healthier, drinking plenty of water, and changing how we look at food. We don't do this alone, so find a coach on line to help you on your journey. Then once meetings or workshops start up again, go to get tips, support, and encouragement. You can do this!

It maybe have something to do with the way how they were eating too? and/or people who might be 100 pound over weight vs 10 pound over weight considering their healthy weight range. People's situation is different and their body is completely different. You are you! so focus on yourself and not other people :) They are doing best for them, and you do what's best for your body!

Don't compare your path to others. I'm trying to NOT focus on the numbers and focus more on the healthy eating aspect. I had totally cut out sweets, dairy, and wheat before joining WW. It was so restrictive and I wasn't losing. Once I joined, I realized I could eat those things in moderation and plan for it. That was so freeing! Don't stop. Do reach out to coach for input.

I joined a year ago and quit because I only lost 6 lbs in 3 months. Gained 20 lbs in the last year. Started back on March 8 and I have lost 10 lbs. Learned my lesson and will never quit again!

I used to eat out once a week as well. Would gain 2-3 pounds and then took all the next week to lose it. Basically, I was just maintaining. So I decided to only go out to eat once a month, not once a week. And I would plan that meal for a day that I was going to be fairly active. I started losing again instead of just maintaining. I didn’t have that issue when I was larger and needed to lose 90 lbs. I could lose 2-3 pounds in a day or two. But as I get closer to my goal weight (about 20 more lbs now), it comes off much slower and harder to lose those couple of pounds.

I've found that the heavier I am the faster it comes off. I'm within 10 pounds or so of my goal weight and it is really slow now. Don't give up.

I say start drinking iced coffee again. Cold brew coffee, with half and half and vanilla stevia is delicious!

@jinajingle where do you get flavored Stevia?

If you follow the points religiously, drink water, and exercise, you’ll lose if you stick with it. It’s not a quick fix; it’s a new lifestyle. I joined in January 2018, lost 30 pounds by July, and have consistently stayed 20 pounds below WW goal since.

I know that I lose a lot better when I up my non-starchy veggies & water - less fruits (even though low or zero points, sugar stifles some folks’ weight loss) and exercise - waking works fine - nothing hard core. Hope this helps

You may need to try a different plan. I’ve found if I’m super strict with myself I stop losing. If I allow myself one cheat meal without going über crazy I will consistently lose every week. I rarely eat all my weekly points. I save those up for when I have my cheat meal, but I almost always still have weekly points left over. Are the foods you’re eating high in salt? That can have a massive impact on the scale. Also, 20 lbs a month is unrealistic. Slow and steady weight loss stays off.

Chances are you're eating more then you should. The free foods are not calorie free. I track my food on the My Plate app - I weigh and measure everything. It was an eye opener when I first started doing this. Just a suggestion.

@caputo118 is my plate app free
