Question

I have no fresh fruit or vegetables in my house. Just frozen green beans and canned pineapple. I live in NY and don't have a car. What are you guys doing without certain things until we get the all clear? BTW I am 60 years old and have Thankspe2 diabetes so have been on lockdown for several weeks.

Maybe go thru fridge and cupboards and see what you have for soup, or if can of stewed tomatos and pasta , simple pasta. I always make a little extra and freeze so I have another dinner.

I’m in NY too. Instacart is backed up for 3 weeks. If you’re in local groups, see if there’s anyone there who will go shopping for you. We have people in my town doing it. They charge a fee, but it’s not much & totally worth it.

We get a weekly community supported agriculture (CSA) box delivered to our home. The produce is just picked from the farm and helps us ensure we get enough zero point foods. This week we received kiwis, grapefruit, kale, lettuce, beets, carrots, oranges, etc. I did some research. This looks like a good CSA that delivers to the Bronx.

Can you find a delivery service like door dash ? Check your county Webb site for volunteers to deliver groceries. Some stores here have shoppers in the store to shop per your list. Maybe your stores will also be able to guide you to who can make the delivery.

Instacart or peapod deliver for you live on long island ? there are several. companies that deliver josephines from shoprite target and walmart have curbside pickup call them from cab to bring it out to you hope this helps

We have many stores Publix all these Walmart shopping for you and Simone and deliver Walmart you have to come in and pick up but you don’t go in the store they bring it to your car. Are there any local farms near you that offer farm shares? Or are just able to package up and set aside the groceries for you? Our local farms are able to put the stuff outside and it’s a huge space so there isn’t any significant risk. Plus we are able to support the local farms. Also, If you have a neighborhood app you could reach out for help. I marked our home as willing to go get groceries for people who couldn’t. It’s important to stay healthy now and fresh veggies helps that.

This is a common problem for us WW members at this time. I fully understand it is a huge issue to keep fresh produce available. If you can, order curbside pickup or delivery for more frozen produce and fruit than fresh. it will last longer. Adjust your meal plans accordingly. remember this is temporary

I listened to the radio and a foodie said to buy more robust veggies that last, think of cabbage, kale, carrots, I guess spinach for me works , as I eat it like lettuce, then I can fry it once it looks to be getting old. But the cabbage and grated carrots are a wonderful salad, you could buy quite a few cabbages and use them as lettuces if you shred.
