To join WW or not to Join WW? I’ve joined several times in my life, lost weight each time, yet here I am. What do you all like best about WW? Least about WW?

When you are ready to make changes in order to lose weight, WW gives you the roadmap and framework to be successful. I do the online only and get help and support from my FB groups. Thank you. I am now 62 and last year lost 60 pounds to reach my personal goal. I am successfully maintaining and this is my new lifestyle. Go for it, we're here for you!

I was very successful previously and then had some financial issues that led me to quit. I tried other things like the beach body program with the colored boxes. Its not for me. I need the flexibility to indulge in an ice cream Sundae and not feel guilty. For me, I like to eat what I want (in moderation) and track it. When I used my fitness pal and tracked my calories I didn't see nearly the success I've seen with WW. I'm down 18lbs since joining in January. I was slow in the beginning but now that I've figured out my needs it's going great. I wasn't eating enough and working out a lot so the pounds weren't coming off. I added an extra snack and its working

JOIN! It's a healthy weight loss plan but you need to make those lifelong lifestyle changes. You know the plan works, do you know that you're worth the effort?

I definitely think it’s important for you to look at it as a lifestyle change not a diet. Don’t deprive yourself or think oh when I lose the weight I can eat that again. Also always track it no matter what happens! It helps you look at what you did and how it effected you!

Accountability! That would be my #1. Then, the fact that it is not a restrictive diet. I get to decide what I eat and when I eat it while being accountable with my points and exercise!

What I like best is the community have mostly women who come together to support each other. The program itself is pretty simple but the act of doing it as part of a dedicated group has made all the difference to me. While I was not excited about the switch to virtual meetings, I have found that I truly look forward to our Saturday morning get together each week. If you are able to join at this time it may be a wonderful gift to yourself of a like-minded group of wonderful people who each have committed to a healthier lifestyle and supporting each other. Best wishes for your health and well-being.

@tadich what i like most about it is that you just eat regular food. I’ve tried one or two of the other programs (okay, most of them! ) and anything that has prepared meals contains food so vile that I have to give up. WIth WW i am in charge of what I buy and what I eat and it all comes from the regular grocery store. I don’t buy any of the WW snacks or shakes or anything like that because I find them really expensive and I think that they slow down my loss because they are full of artificial ingredients. And the plans is simple - as a friend of mine described it “if you can count, you can lose weight”. My only other tip is that I used some of my weeklies (usually for wine! ) but none of my fit points - I think WW way-overcompensates for minimal levels of activity and if you were to really use those as well (ohh, look, 10 fit points for 30 minutes of knitting! ) i don’t see how you would ever lose weight unless you have a lot to lose and are just starting out. Oh and not WW-recommended, necessarily, but I also dabble with an Intermittent Fasting and WW combo.

It has to be a lifestyle not on an off thing. save up extra points for treats. ‍♀️it’s as easy as that. but no one is perfect. everyone is has struggles and is different . just get back on track. ASAP. goodluck.

I can always count on it. I've been "lifetime" for 39 years. Not that I've always been at goal during those 39 years, but when I stray, I am always able to start tracking again, and shed whatever weight returned. What I like least is that they have changed the plan so many times over the years. I still do an "old" plan because it works for me.

Personally, I'd wait until we can attend "real" meetings, rather than on ZOOM. I like being with people in person, not just on my computer screen. Just how I feel.

I love the easy tracking system, the support on connect. It has really helped me stay accountable to myself during this pandemic. Each person is different.

Part of it depends on what you can afford. I do WW digital because it's cheaper. But I recently started using MyFitnessPal along with it (free) because I don't want to overeat on the 0 point foods. I'm doing better using both.
by (1k points)
@judah I’m thinking of getting back on Myfitnesspal in order to track nutrients- make sure I get enough calcium, protein etc. do you know if you can log food in only one app and then link? Wish WW tracked this for me!

I’m also one who gains easily if I’m not accountable to someone. I have decided I MUST DO THIS for the rest of my life, or I will not survive.

WW is the most sustainable program there is, but it is a for life program. If you leave, you gain. If you don't join, where do you see yourself in 6 months? Fit and healthy? Maintaining or gaining? If you join WW where do you see yourself?

I love the variety of foods I can still eat. I feel less restricted than the usual diets (DIE-ts). This is a lifestyle program. It's not you CAN'T eat 'that'. It's more you can eat 'that' within reason and planning. I really don't enjoy the measuring of what I eat. But not measuring is what got me to this weight! I lose when I measure and track.

I love that I can eat real food. Nothing is off limits. You lose weight because you learn to make healthy choices in the correct portion. I don’t have anything negative to say about WW.

I like that I have a coach and the plan is real good that I choose. The meetings have helped me learn things about my eating habits and help me make better choices. I am currently at Lifetime 5 years and I go to weekely meetings

@hearst Strohminger where do you find a Coach?

I've tried other plans but none of them made sense to me like WW does. You have to do what makes sense for you. If you are unhappy with where you are then find something that will work for you.

I did low carb and I did lose weight, but not a lot I lost 40 lbs, I had lost 50, but it come back and I was stuck. I did that 21/2 - 3 years. I’ve been on WW since March and I’ve lost 24 lbs.
by (470 points)
@parmesan wow. Which plan? I terminated mine 2 weeks ago but want to try again. Have no clue which to choose tho.
by (3.4k points)
@neela1354 when you join you answer questions and it picks a plan based on your answers. If for some reason you aren't clicking on that plan, you can switch and try a different one.
by (470 points)
@sousaphone Diedrich Anderson thank you. It did that. I got 23 points a day. But the meetings are not near my home, so wish I had a Coach to confirm with.

I have tried every diet, diet pill even WW many times. In fact I think I have built a Ww building or two. I have lost weight many times and always gained it back. Now I realize it is a lifestyle and I may have to track, and go to meetings far into the future. You eat real food and when you hit goal they still support you. Never had that before and Connect is wonderful.
by (3.1k points)
@neela1354 I’m on the blue plan.

I like WW because I can still enjoy real food, but focus on reasonable portions. We like to have restaurant meals a few times a week & WW allows for that. This is a healthy approach to my goal weight.

Thank you all for your comments and good thoughts. I’m pretty sure if I don’t join I will continue to gain and feel worse about myself. I have thought about this a lot and I think my hesitation is that i know I will have to discipline and restrict myself. I m acting like a spoiled brat.

I like the accountability of tracking everything. I'm digital, so no meetings for me, but I weigh in with a friend every week. I call that adult supervision! I can eat real food and learn to make good choices. Works for me!
