Am I broken?  I am so happy and proud for those that joined in Jan and are down 15, 20, 30 even 59 pounds.Am I broken? I am so happy and proud for those that joined in Jan and are down 15, 20, 30 even 59 pounds. I joined Feb 15, I’m down 7 lbs. yep that’s it and the 5 I lost within the first two weeks, so I have been at a plateau the month of March and April. I track, even the zero points, even the nibbles while cooking, I drink 1/2 gallon water, Avg about 15-20k steps daily. I am not kidding myself, I am so dedicated to tracking that I’m obsessed. But something is definitely wrong. I’ve eaten some my weeklies, but within reason. I don’t eat sweets or diary. Please someone tell me that this is happening to them so I don’t feel scared. 56, 5’4”, SW 167, CW 160, GW 140.

Try tracking your calories maybe you aren’t eating enough? I know that sounds crazy but sometimes your body thinks it’s starving and it can’t lose , change up your exercise program so something different , I bought a recumbent bike and ride it for 2 hours! Please don’t give up it will happen !

@durward125 I did track last week and I’m averaging about 1200-1300. My exercise brings my net to 700-800. I get so confused if I should eat more do to the amount of calories I burn with exercising. What do you think.
by (13.1k points)
@chainplate I would try eating a little more and see what happens.
by (27.2k points)
@chainplate I don’t think you’re eating enough. Without exercising you should consume 1200-1500 calories. So if you’re burning 700-800 with exercise then you’re basically trying to live on 500 calories a day. Eat more protein.
by (2.1k points)
I just checked again, I use Lose IT to track and it show 500-800 calorie burn the past two weeks , so eat more. Well I have nothing to lose, no pun intended. I will eat more protein.
by (640 points)
OMG you arenot eating enough. add some healthy fats like avocado, olive oil, nuts, and ear all your weeklies with these added. if it still dont come off, could be hormones, talk to your doctor. Good Luck!

How does your metabolism get damaged in the first place? Quite often after long periods of excessive caloric restriction and over exercising, your metabolism can be negatively affected. You start out thinking that dieting is all about calories in and calories out. Slowly but surely you start to take in less and less calories, and increase the time spent working out. As you jump on the scale, it is baffling why your body doesn't seem to want to lose the weight you calculated should have happened. Week after week you start to decrease your intake hoping to see bigger numbers but that never happens.
by (2k points)
@teraterai this happened to me. I was exercising like a beast, slowed up on the exercise and started losing again.

You may need your thyroid checked. Also, have you checked your measurements? Meaning body measurements.
by (2.1k points)
@vanish63199 I have seen body transformation. Yes, I do have Hashimoto Thyroid. I do realize know that is a factor in the slow results.

56 here too. Doing all the right things as well. I’ve been in a plateau since February. Grateful I haven’t gained for sure. But I’m to my last 15 and I’d just love to see them gone. I’m trying f the Wendie Plan this week to see if that’s enough to shake things up.

I think due to the pandemic, you might be under a lot of stress, which can produce Cortodol. Cortisol affects loss and can cause you to gain. Are you eating high sodium foods? I think you are doing great. Just keep going, no matter how slow. You are making progress. Perhaps you are building muscle But no matter what, you are down and should be proud of yourself for sticking with it.

@durward125 your story was inspiring to me. I am not comparing myself to others but something just didn’t seem right that I wasn’t seeing results.
by (13.1k points)
@chainplate maybe go get a physical so you can rule out any problems! If it’s all good just keep doing what you are and it will happen , sometimes it’s just slower for different people.

Maybe it is stress? Cortisol is a stress hormone, and its hard to lose. Try not worrying about it. Maybe that could help?

Not sure what plan you are on. But I switched from blue to green and now I'm finally loosing. Also, while you are tracking points, keep a journal of calories consumed daily. There is a nutrition shop (maxx muscle) next to me that has this whole body scanner. It tells you your resting metabolic rate. So you know what you burn not including exercise. If you ever get a chance to do something like that you'll know what caloric deficit you need to maintain, then you can adjust your points. I have to leave between 5 to 7 points daily to lose anything. That's with Exercise as well. You can also try carb cycling. I commend you for not throwing in the towel. Keep at it, tweak your intake a bit and you will be golden.
by (48.9k points)
@goodygoody That sounds very interesting about the resting metabolic rate that could be quite helpful thank you for this information

@trueblood43838 been avg 8 miles daily. Leslie Sansome walking a bit more cardio then walking. Use dumb bells and I use a totalgym.

@chainplate thats great! I do pilates 4 days a week that has helped tremendously for my whole body core and health. About 60 days I added bike riding you earn a lot of activity for a short time vs walking or even Pilates. Take measurements and track those as well. Keep at it sometimes you might need to mix it up

Hi Kathy! I’m also 56 and menopausal. I have lost20 pounds in a year and a half- yes that’s right! I have another 20-25 to lose. Try to look at the big picture- you are making lifestyle changes every day. I refuse to eat artificial sweeteners, margarine and overly processed foods. I also refuse to call this a diet. I am committed to being a WW member for as long as I am able. I try to focus on the fact that I am changing my life a little each day and not gaining weight. It eventually comes off just hang in there!

I’ve been doing this (green) for 10 weeks and have JUST now lost 10 pounds. Like you, I see all these people losing double, even triple what I have in the same time frame. However, while I will continue to cheer them on, I can’t let their bigger numbers bring me down. I just have to keep telling myself (and so should you) that we are tracking, eating healthy and most importantly, we are doing this to take care of ourselves, one pound at a time. Keep pushing forward! YOU CAN DO IT!

Use all your weeklies
by (400 points)
Please explain why this helps? I'm very new here and have not used any weeklies.
by (10.4k points)
@warrington8 I find that I lose more when I use them than when I don’t. I don’t know why but I do!
by (850 points)
Eat more or have a cheat day. This has helped me break a plateau. I was walking, tracking, drinking water and not losing. I started using more weeklies. That helped , lost 2. 5 pounds.
by (10.4k points)
@loot8252 a cheat day helps me sometimes too!

Portion control, drinking water. Just because it says free, you can’t have unlimited amt. I take one portion if still hungry eat one more. I’ve lost 50 each time I’ve joined then when I quit I’d get lazy about tracking. Must track

I am 62. Started on Feb 1 and down 20 pounds. Exercised 4-5 days a week. I am on green. I need to stay within 22-25 points a day to lose weight. Never use weeklies. Figure out what works for you. People are different.

The more you exercise the more you need additional protein and water. I was in a plateau for the month of April. Was told to have a cheat day (eat within 5 points over your daily), drink more water and eat protein at each meal (a small amount at least) and eat that protein first. Lost 2 then 3 this week! You’ve got this.

It is very true that the closer you are to goal the harder it gets. I lost 35 lbs without too much struggle but my last 20 is a bear. These are things that might help. 1. Protein at every meal 2. Weight training . 3. Intermittent fasting

Hmm. maybe stress too? I'd say more water if you can and some yoga. My thyroid is bad and honestly if I work out too much it can slow down my calorie burn . this said, I'm pretty new to ww so I'm no expert on the plan. just on what it's like to plateau ;) You've got this. staying still is better than gaining!

If you are doing all that exercise, your body shape is changing. also, for ME, i will have more carbs and fat on a day; then next two be more frugal. change your metabolism; make it work for you. Don't give up. as they "never said it would be easy BUT said it was worth it". You can do this. Good Luck.

I’m 66 and have done ww on and off for years. As I’ve gotten older it’s harder to lose easier to pack on. That being said I’ve found green actually is best for me and I can’t eat 1/3 of my weeklies if I have roll overs and 1/2 if I don’t. So on a week you don’t lose cut back points. Further measure, weigh and track everything you eat. Guessing portions doesn’t work . Hope this helps you

I have plateaued over quarantine as well. I started paying more attention to the serving size of my zero point foods because like they always tell us, zero points don't mean zero calories! I also started looking at the calorie count of some of my favorites, like chicken and was really surprised at how many calories I was eating in proteins. I also have starting snacking on raw vegetables instead of fruit, big calorie difference. (And I should do without so much sugar) Since I've become more aware, I am starting to see a little more progress. Still slow, but moving again. Good Luck, but remember it's a marathon, not a sprint, a lifestyle, not a diet!
by (47.5k points)
@cooker Reis Johnson I keep a bowl of boiled eggs in the fridge and I usually only each 4 to 5 ounces of chicken fish or meat at one sitting

@teraterai Yes I am now too, but before when I didn't weigh it, who knows. When I first started it didn't matter, but the smaller you get, the less you need! Almost to 100 pound loss, should not need that much, and I am not missing the larger portions at all!

Hugs! You are not broken! You have to look at your tracker evaluate it. I like writing it down on paper so I can refer back to it and see trends. I personally do not have a weight loss if I eat more than two fruits a day. It is a struggle but it took time for me to realize that and also that My body is very sodium retentive. Something as simple as canned tomatoes in a soup or a meal I made can make the scale temporarily go up. Maybe try eating more protein and healthy fats. I know the facts are points but our body needs healthy fats like olive oil. Don’t give up we have your back and we’re in this together!
