My brother passed away unexpectedly in November at 54. He was an amazing human (my favorite) and he did not take good care of his health. I finished my first week yesterday and was only down 1. 4. I need to release 30-35 pounds. I was a bit disappointed yesterday and I realize this is a process. I’m doing this for me, my health, my life. And for my brother. I know he’s cheering me on. He always used to say I was the beautiful one. I don’t feel beautiful at this size. However I know that this time, I cannot quit. I want to feel good, look good and do good. I know that releasing weight is not a linear process. Nor is life. So I will keep going. My goal is my birthday  on July 1. I have to keep my “why’s” in front of me every day

For me, sometimes making a list of the reasons I want to lose helps. Keep the list with you and when you are tempted, take it our and review it. Also, I find that if I want something I shouldn't have and wait 20 minutes, the want goes away. Good luck!

Actually rethink it. Your weight is the one thing you @perviousO have control over. There are so many things in this world we truly don’t have control over. Good luck!

I read all the WW posts ( member of 3) and connect every day. It keeps my head in the game. I post a little and am so excited when I responses. Let’s me know I’m not alone.
by (3k points)
@reedbuck I agree because it helps reduce that feeling of being alone going through this! Also, have a serving of protein with your meals & snacks, as it’s more satisfying. For snacks, perhaps a cheese stick with fruit. Another favorite- banana with PB2!
by (7.1k points)
This is why I love to read the WW tips tricks and ideas! I have a protein and fruit for most of my breakfasts. I initially thought online would be so isolating but I find myself more connected while doing online than the meetings!

I was on crutches and could barely walk, having been diagnosed with arthritis in my knee - doctor recommended a knee replacement. And then she said for every pound I lost, I’d take 4 lbs of pressure off my knee. That was what kick-started my 70 lb weight loss. I still haven’t had the knee replacement, the crutches are stored in the garage, and I walk on my own.

Eat your next meal completely naked sitting down in front of a full length mirror. You can decide if you want to maintain or continue with your weight loss journey. You are ultimately responsible for what you put in your mouth. If you're not ready you're not ready. You have to put in the work. Is it easy? No. However it will be the best gift only you can give to you.

Get sugar out of your diet. That also means getting rid of processed carbohydrates. Sugar and processed carbohydrates break down into the blood stream and make you crave more sugar and increase hunger. And they also store as fat. Processed sugar get rid of it. Start eating like a diabetic. Processed carbohydrates can easily be replaced. Instead of white rice have Brown rice. Instead of a white potato have a sweet potato. Instead of pasta have chick pea pasta or lentil pasta. And as for bread you can buy a low carb bread which I do and limit myself to only 2 servings per week. You can also find many recipes and make your own bread using an alternative flour not white flour. This simple changing habits greatly reduce your hunger and also aid in weight loss.

Take control of one thing. Eg remove soda, drink water. Switch from cream to milk in Coffee Take a 10min walk a day If you focus on one thing to get started instead of the overwhelming whole it might click for you. Be kind to yourself your worth it

Hi Nadia, When I started my journey I thought about my personality. I set goals that were good for me, I committed to the program including weighing and measuring. And I never set a goal weight with a time limit. For me if my goals weren’t met I knew I wouldn’t stick to it. My weight loss goal was 10% goals, I was able to loose 100 lbs. Lastly learn things like what a serving size is and what a recommended daily amount is. I’m a knowledgeable and analytical person.

I eat a bowl of oatmeal before going out to a restaurant or party. Filled me up so I wasn’t likely to over indulge.

@perviouson’t beat yourself up if you go off one meal just get back on track for the next one. I used to mess up one meal and thought well that’s it I’m giving up for the week and will start over again on Monday

I take it one day at a time. I set goals, like 5 pound weight loss, don't even think about the big picture. I track, plan my meals, drink water.

I felt like that. at first. The app really has great ideas. I do more meal prep now. I added fruits and vegetables, which filled me up more. Once I got used to that I stopped craving the candy & pastries so much. (Now I only have them occasionally, not daily. ). I know it's hard to change habits, but it gets easier. ☺️

I think the biggest thing is keeping your motivation going--I think that's why ww works for so many people. They focus on having you remind yourself often what your big reason for doing this is (your "why"), especially if you go to the workshops. It has to be really specific. I've spent my whole life losing and gaining and re- losing and re-gaining so mine is "to stop dieting and start living" but it could be about your kids, partner, friends, job, running a marathon, living a long healthy life, looking great at a reunion or something, but it has to be something so powerful that you stay motivated when it's hard. I like going to the workshops, it's kind of like therapy. Also thanks to the person who mentioned overeaters anonymous, I might check that out.

Taking it day by day. I only have zero point snack foods in the house. Went January with no alcohol. Substituted it with flavored water or tea. @perviousoing the 16 hour fast thing. Weigh every other day. It’s a slow process, but all I have is time. Just think where you could be a month from now!

You first have to change your mind set and then start to think positive about a life change. Make it a life change not just a diet

It’s really hard. but if we follow the ww program, and make good choices. we can do it. setbacks occur and things can go slow but in the long run we are doing good for ourselves. slow and steady wins the race!

The most important thing is to have a post frame of mind. and track! I been doing this for more than 20yr. Is a life style. I know what I have to do but sometimes I don’t have the “desire to do it”, happens to all of us. Is not easy but it can be done. I do it for my health, and because I recognized how important this is! Good luck. I know you can do it.

I just keep repeating “nothing changes if nothing changes” to myself, because it’s so true. How do I expect for my body to change if I don’t change anything?

One day at a time. Repeat repeat. Most important this has to be a life style change not a diet.

I think it’s just one day at a time, even one meal at a time. And not holding myself to impossible standards. There are always going to be times when we need/want to indulge a bit. But don’t use that holiday or party or dinner out or vacation or even just an off day as an excuse to throw in the towel. The important thing is to stick with it. And accept that progress may be slow, but it’s still progress. Meal planning and prepping some food to have on hand really help me. When I get busy or stressed, it’s easy to make bad food choices. Having healthy point-friendly options on hand really makes it easier.

I think you have to know your triggers and weaknesses. And then work your plan accordingly. I'm a sugar addict so i don't keep it in my home . I try to keep a variety of healthy zero and low point foods around. I try to work out M / W / Fi / Sat. Portion control is a big weakness , so I focus on that a lot too

The only way I've been able to ever lose weight is by limiting my sugar/carbs and planning as much as possible. If you stock up on healthy foods, foods that you can grab in a pinch, it will be easier. As soon as my stockpiles of good stuff goes down, the lbs come back because I tend to grab whatever's there.

I share your pain. I joined and lost 40 lbs in 6 mo. Then gained it all back. Still going but still gaining.
by (27.2k points)
@latonia what changed for you?
by (2.8k points)
Well the holidays came around and then it was so hard to get back to doing. Sugar lingers in your body and the more you eat the more you want. Went tonight and we had such a good meeting that it really motivated me . So hopefully it really will.
