I'm 38 with a considerable amount of weight I want to lose (80+ lbs). What are everyone's thoughts on loose skin? Any tips for prevention, or minimalism? Anyone want to share their experience with this? Thanks in advance!

I lost 85lbs. in 8. 5 months last year and turned 37 turning that time. I lost about 2 lbs per week. I walk for 30 minutes in the mornings and then do 15 minutes of leg/crunches/arm weights at night. I don't have loose skin, but my skin is softer on my thighs, butt and belly and when I squish it, is has wrinkles, but I'll take that any day over the extra 85lbs. I was carrying before :) I feel so much better and have so my more confidence. Good luck on your journey :) Please see mine and my husband's before and after pics below (he lost 80lbs. last year too ☺️).

@coranto16 holy Moses! Your transformation is extraordinary. I looked at your first picture and just thought, "damn she's really pretty". Then I looked at the second and you just look so pretty and so happy and so youthful too!

I lost 100lbs and in my mid 60's. Apart from everyday walking I never exercised. Have some loose skin and lots of wrinkles but not enough to worry! At my age clothes cover them up

@rrhagia Where can you get bone broth
by (210 points)
@rrhagia yes interested in knowing as well, thank you

You can buy it, usually the freezer section, at stores like Sprouts and whole foods, but it tastes better when you make it. You can buy bones at most butchers and there are recipes online. I like poultry better so I use the carcasses of my turkeys and chickens. I will make a huge pot and freeze the broth in individual containers.

@masjide Cuneo you can buy it or make it I usually make my own with whole Turkey or chicken. Bones throw them in my crock pot with celery onion and carrots and cook on low for 24 hours strain and put in a pitcher in fridge in the morning I pour a coffee cup and micro delicious

I’ve lost almost 40 pounds in 4 months and I’m starting to have loose skin, once I reach my goal weight I’m probably going to get a tummy tuck. I don’t want to still hate my body after working so hard to get rid of the weight!

Young skin bounces back, old skin not so much. I am unaware of any product or practice that will minimize loose skin to any appreciable degree. At 38, you may still have enough elasticity in your skin to bounce back. I believe it is determined based on age, how long and how much it has been stretched and genetics.

I'm 42 and have lost 86 pounds. I had twins, so I have some skin that is stretched above my belly button that will never go away unless I have surgery. I've chosen to accept it, to remind me of the precious lives I carried. I may never wear a bikini, but I feel great for losing all that weight and don't ever want to go back! Also, I have started in the last 3 months putting collagen in my morning water bottle. Not sure I've noticed great differences, but my arms are starting to not be too saggy. The arms are where I've noticed the most difference in changing, but I've been doing arm exercises since last summer too.

@neman56 I say wear the bikini anyway

Lost 130 pounds at 47. Hate to say it but I am very saggy. Exercise helps your muscle tone but doesn’t tighten loose skin. Best to put your question to a doctor or cosmetic surgeon. Sorry it is not what you wAnted to hear. Your age may help some

Thank you, THANK YOU for using “lose” and “loose” correctly. Most people in weight loss groups drive me crazy!

I lost 100 pounds at that age and had no loose skin. You are either prone to it or not. Surgery can help once you have lost your 80.

For goodness sake. In the 60s Weight Watchers said to take in 2 c p. Milk to prevent sagging weight loss skin. Did they lie. Instructors beware! I had no skin sag. Let's mention that in a meeting.

I heard that drinking a lot of water on your weight loss journey will help a lot with your skin.

Any exercise you can do will help. Concentract on core muscles. Yoga, walking, dancing, pilates, etc

I lost 80 pound slowly like 2-3 pounds per week and I lifted weights and had NO loose skin.
by (110 points)
@linin that’s amazing! Yes i think of you lose it slow and steady you don’t end up with loose skin
by (2.9k points)
@bardtt I believe the weight lifting and the slow loss combo was a winner for me.
by (110 points)
@linin i went from 160 to 110 but like you it was slow and steady with workouts and eating better and no lose skin. But not as much weight as you. Congrats!

@bardtt it’s no small feat to lose even 30 pounds. So congrats to you too.
