I have an Arlo Pro.  What is geofencing and is Geofencing recommended?I have an Arlo Pro. What is geofencing and is Geofencing recommended? Is it safe?

I don't use Geofencing but I do use the schedule to run different modes during the day and at night. Creatively, I've named those custom modes Day and Night. Day mode has lower sensitivities. Night mode has all cameras at 100% sensitivity.

@terrie Thanksng thats a great idea. I've always been too lazy to set it up with the amount of cameras I have with 2 bases. Ugh but I need to soon

It definitely makes them function better for me. It is a bit annoying to have to update the schedule to adjust for the sun going down earlier during different parts of the year but if that's the only thing I need to do all year, that's pretty alright with me

I don't use it because when I am home the cameras stay armed unless I am outside working or hanging out. I like to know what is going on around my house at all times, even though it burns through batteries at times

@jonathonjonati got it! Thanks. So when my mobile device is outside the “fence” the mode goes to “away” but if I’m home, then the system is disarmed and the mode is “home” thus the system is not armed? Am I understanding it now?

I set it up so when I am away I get notifications from all cameras, and when I am home, I get notifications from only certain cameras, and not all cameras are recording.

I don’t want notifications when I let the dog out to pee, nor do I want to see myself pull into the driveway, but I do want to know if someone cuts down the side of my house (we have been having issues). As for the how: same as any other mode, add a camera to “home” or “away” and make a custom rule for it. Geofencing will switch between the two modes you select if you are within a certain radius.

I use the camera 24/7 geo fencing is off. Its helpful especially to look after my kids on what they are doin  inside and outside(backyard) the house

I use geofencing so my cameras activate whenever i leave the house. When I'm home, my cameras default to record during the overnight schedule, (9pm - 7am) I set up. No privacy concerns at all. Works very well for me.
