Question

Does anyone know why there’s such a delay with the Arlo and if there is anything we can do? There is a minimum of five seconds delay to view live camera on phone and there is at least a minute or two to view prior alert video on phone.

The cameras that allow local live streaming can get the lag down to about 1 second when you're at home. Waiting for the recording to finish uploading to the cloud has to happen for you to be able to view that recording

Yep. You press live view on your phone. That goes up your internet to the Arlo servers and back down to your base station. This then sends the instruction to the camera to start streaming. The stream is then sent from the camera to the base station up the internet to the Arlo servers and then down the internet to your phone. As you can see, internet speed especially upload, plays multiple parts in the process

I have a similar delay caused by my substandard internet speed. 10mbps.  Upload speed doesn’t even make it to 1 Mbps.

I had that problem when we had hughsnet satelite internet, now I run my arlo from a verizon hotspot. Night and day difference for me.

Sorry people. no matter how fast your IP service is. our camera's are WIRE FREE (WIFI) so the few seconds delay is how it is. All you can do is keep your HOME NETWORK as clear & secure as possible to keep your Arlo System Productive.
