There's no way to have a continuous feed reliably. The stream times out.

What @warenne6 says is true. If you want to watch cameras, you'll need something else, like an IPTV camera.

How long before it times out my friend has camera you can constantly watch but dont record I guess it's not that important unless its motion anyway is it possible to have it pop up on your tv or just your phone
by (320 points)
Like I have a Samsung tv if I download the app for this system would it give a notification or pop up when motion is detected

@bloodless Why?

@portie7511 scroll through all the posts . there are better systems out there Swan Uniden etc
by (920 points)
@bloodless swan and uniden? Oh man, you definitely don't know anything about cameras to give advice. Those are some of the worse ones period!
by (3.1k points)
@wreckage yea okay I have 8 Arlo's and all I get is problems everyday . they are all 4K Ultra . my old 1080 wired system swan was heaps reliable . never a bloody issue till I bought this junk
by (920 points)
@bloodless Swann has deteriorated over the years. There customer service is now the worse in the business and uniden don't even get me started. I'm assuming you had a wired setup before with swann and that's why it worked well for you. When you go wireless it can be a little tricky. By you having 8 4k cameras, I'm assuming your network is getting hammered and that's probably where majority of your problems are coming in. You mind me asking what's your Mbps speeds and make and model of your router? You can pm me if you don't want to share it on this post. Just want to get a general idea of your issues
by (3.1k points)
@wreckage 42mbps to 38mbps and it's a Telstra modem from our ISP provider. the 3 other cameras are not set up yet but will be with another seperate hub
by (920 points)
@bloodless ok, 42mbps is not efficient enough for 4k cams. You need at least 100mbps to get a good enough band for them. I'm also assuming you have other wired and wireless devices on your network so with all of that going on, your network is extremely bogged down. Also, I don't know if that router is an all in one (modem & router combo ) but if it is, get rid of it quick. Find out from your ISP if you can provide your won modem and supply your own router as well. If you feel more comfortable using there equipment, just make sure you get the devices separate. So the modem should be stand alone and the router should be stand alone. The modem should be should be able to handle 300mbps + while being able to handle at least 16 downstream and 4 upstream. The router itself should be at least dual band(tri band preffered) and about a 1700 or above.

If you want some recommendations on a good setup, I'd be more than happy to share some equipment ideas. First off, get with your internet service provider and get those speeds up over 100 Mbps at least. Call and see if they have some better package deals that way you don't have to pay much more for better speeds. With covid 19, ISPs have been offering better package deals for consumers already grandfathered in and depending on the company some are even allowing old customers to get the same deals that new customers car receiving. You don't know unless you try

I managed to load the Arlo app to a Firestick but it didn't work properly. I can view live cam using the Alexa app on my Android phone to connect.

There is so much technology, I can barely keep up!

If you want constant video feed that you can check out anytime, then I don't suggest arlos. We càn pull our footage up at anytime on our TV via a fire stick or echo show/Google home device but the feed is limited to a couple minutes. If you just want constant streaming of video footage, a camera system with an nvr is probably your best setup. Try reolink or lorex. If you are looking for a good wireless system try Google searching wireless camera system with NVR

I use arlo pro 2 cameras love them, I also pay for the AI smart notifications they work great. I’ve used arlo cameras for 5+ years not many issues. I also use Reolink Argus cameras. Another good camera to look at is EufyCam.

I recommend if getting the arlo cameras to get the arlo pro 2. My battery life between recharges averages 2-3 months, takes maybe 45 mins to recharge, or you can hardwire them or power them via the solar panel.

If you want another hardwired system there’s tons of options each with their pros and cons. Lifehackster does lots of good video reviews for all sorts of cameras  .

Don’t bother! Just got my Arlo 2 pro. As I type this, we are taking down and returning! It came with NO instructions. Had to download 80pg book. And still can’t get a camera to work. The one that does work goes back & forth being pixelated.
