Question

Got security lights up today. here is my dilemma. if I just arm the bridge they seem to work fine detecting motion and serving as light. I want to use them as motion sensor to trigger the camera they are nearest too. when i set the mode up. it works in triggering the camera to record, but the actual light doesn’t come on. so are these things EITHER a light OR sensor? Can’t be both ?

It should be able to be both. Can you screenshot your rule for this light?

Click "+ Add device" and add another device to operate when something detects motion

Oh yup. Just re-reading again. You're correct there. But you need to add the light as a device to do something too

With my camera placement. the light is gonna be triggered more often. so i wanted the camera to follow the lights lead. if that makes sense

Yep. The controlling device is where you set the mode and rules. eg the last screenshot you posted says the Front Door Light triggers the Front Door camera to record. This means the camera will record but the light won't turn on. If you Add Device and add Front Door Light - Turn on light. It will trigger both itself to turn on and the Front Door camera to record

Ah! I have to add two different rules for front door light. i see why you say click add device again!

Once i added the rule I didn’t realize i had to add the device for motion sensor and AGAIN for the light!
