Nope. Pro 3 needs a paid plan for cloud recording

@terrie Thanksng dang lol. Can I ask what setup (model cams) and subscription you do? You seem way knowledgeable so want to pick your brain

I still have a few months of a 1 year subscription to go. I'm pretty gutted they've moved to this monthly model where it's going to cost me more since I have so many cameras :( I'm not totally sure how the new plans work except being $10 a month for up to 5 cameras and a 50% discount per additional camera. I have some Pro, Pro 2, Pro 3, Ultra, Arlo Baby, and the new Pro 3 Floodlight. I started with the wirefree but they're pretty crappy in comparison and I kinda wish Arlo would stop selling them

Ah nice. Yeah I have pro and pro 2s mainly. thinking the 3s would be nice out front

The biggest advantage is really the spotlight and "color night vision" which is really just color video in lower light. The 2K really isn't much clearer due to a wider FOV and due to video compression algorithms. Also, moving from Pro or Pro 2 to Pro 3 means a whole different set of mounts (ugh) and accessories eg different charging cable, different solar panel

The 3s and ultras have screw option on backs tho so couldnt I use that?
by (32.4k points)
Oh yup. If you're going to use the screw mounts, they'll work for any camera

@infantine I have the pro 3 on subscription and it’s difficult without it running off the external hard drive remotely. I say if you use the pro 3 get the plan.

@hornblende4 ok thank you
by (1.7k points)
So if I ran off external harddrive do I have to remove that and put on computer to view or can i see on app
by (32.4k points)
If you have a VMB4540 or VMB5000, you can see the local recordings through the app. BUT it works natively if you're on the same network. To get it to work while you're off the network, you need to set up a VPN or portforwarding in your router. Also, when you look at the recordings on your local storage through the app, there are no thumbnails until you've viewed any clips. That's probably the most annoying part - the lack of thumbnails
by (32.4k points)
Sorry, external HDD with local storage access through the app has to be the VMB4540. The VMB5000 uses a Micro SD card for the local storage
by (1.7k points)
Oh ok so the newest vm5000 doesnt support local app view. got it. By thumbnail you mean it's one long vid?
by (6.5k points)
@infantine these are thumbnails.
by (32.4k points)
VMB5000 does allow access to local storage but the local storage is a micro SD card, not a USB drive to attach
by (1.7k points)
@terrie Thanksng so is it just one vid instead of separate thumbnails with either base?
by (32.4k points)
@infantine separate clips but the image is just a down arrow. I'll grab a screenshot
by (1.7k points)
@terrie Thanksng thanks. I'd like to see
by (6.5k points)
@infantine this is what it looks like only using an external hard drive or SD Card
by (1.7k points)
Ohhhhh that's no biggie to me :)
by (1.7k points)
I mean thumbnail better but I could live with that to not pay subscription
by (1.7k points)
Hey @Danielbui and steve Thanksng. if I do the USB or micro sd base I still can view on app just without thumbnails or only on USB one?
by (32.4k points)
Yeah, both will show up as per Daniel's pic above
by (32.4k points)
VMB4540 is basically the same as VMB5000 but the 4540 has a USB port for local storage and the 5000 has a micro SD slot
by (1.7k points)
Oh ok cool. Thanks fellas
