I have a camera inside covering my main living space. It is turned off most of the time. I have noticed that several nights lately I hear a click after I have gone to bed and, when I check my cameras, that camera is turned on. Not sure if i have been hacked, but it makes me a little uneasy watching this happen. Any ideas? Or am I being paranoid? I have the Arlo and other than the usual problems on occasion, I have not had many issues. I have been really pleased with my cameras for the past 4 years. Thanks for any suggestions.

I also have one inside. Need to keep on eye on the pups when I’m at work. Some times after I get home I tip it camera down. It is just sitting on a shelf.

@miltiades93 thanks, but mine is pretty high up.

Under the circumstances I’d move the camera or cover it and call/message ARLO immediately. I think better safe then sorry. Maybe change your passwords on both your ARLO and router/modem.

They click when they go into infer red mode. It’s the IF filter being mechanically put into place. At least that would be my explanation.

@freehand the camera is generally off. It just comes on by itself.

@freehand so. what does that mean exactly? Lol

They are probably never really off. Always on standby.

@freehand the code says it is disabled and will not respond to mode changes.

I think I will try changing my passcode and then change the camera out with one of my spares. I will update later.

I didn’t even know they made a clicking sound. Could it be when the infrared switches on at night? If you see a bunch of dim red lights on, the camera is registering movement and turned on the infrared light.

@grandstand thanks Joe, but the camera is turned off. If it was on and detected motion, it does make a very light clicking sound.

I’ve had my Ultra’s do that at times . Also once received a movement notification on my Bar Cam . the only problem is I don’t have a bar cam , and I don’t have a Bar. it was a nice picture of somebody’s home bar.

My Q clicks when the lights go out. It must be a relay for powering the infrared LEDs

@candicandia78 I think they position an IF filter mechanically in the camera.

@freehand That also makes sense

My arlo cameras don't make any sounds of any kind no matter what camera action is in place. The clicking isn't coming from your camera.

It's coming from the little man living under the stairs.
