Anyone willing to share their sinking fund amount for back to school? Hubby and I aren’t quite sure what the total for each child should be? Advice? -Our little starts kindergarten this year. -Our oldest is a teen and plays a varsity sport so we want to account for uniforms/parking fees/etc. He has also hit a major growth spurt and will probably need a whole new wardrobe. We did great with this last year when we just had our oldest in school and he was still fitting children’s clothing. But this upcoming school year will be a little different for us and I’m struggling to come up with an amount that I think is realistic. ♀️

My oldest is halfway through kinder, my middle is in preschool and I aimed to have $400 for the school year (with at least half ready by Aug). School supplies, reg fees, school pictures, book fairs and kinder class contribution for parties/holidays.

I like your idea of 1/2 by August and have the rest throughout the year for other school related expenses! This year I just saved for back to school shopping and all the other things through the year have had to come out of our checking cushion. Thank you!

My main thing is to keep track of what I randomly have to shell out money for so I know for next year! There is always something lol

My daughter is currently in Kinder. We combine back to school with her birthday (5-6 weeks after school starts), and put 50/month in it. We also pull money from it for things like book fairs, or school activities.
