I need opinions on Hulu! I just moved into an apartment and I guess they have a contract with certain cable and internet companies. For just like basic cable and some extra channels they want to charge me $75 a month nothing else included. I was looking into Hulu + Live TV but is it just like cable? Like I wanna be able to watch sports and live shows on CBS and NBC and have like food network and other things. Would Hulu Live TV be good for that? I don’t wanna spend the money if it’s not! Or does any one have any other budget friendly tips for cable. Thank you!

I watch sports on hulu live and food network. Are you eligible to do the week trial and see if you like it. It has CBS

I think YouTube tv is a better choice. I have had HuluLive and I currently have YouTube tv. I pay $50 a month, get sports(football, hockey, baseball, wrestling, ufc), local television, can dvr shows, get major networks and other channels like hgtv, news networks. I think YouTube has a one month free trial.

@oliy6 so with YouTube tv you get local channs and you can dvr shows?

Yes, I get local channels, local news, pbs, fox, nbc, abc, cbs and the national news channels like foxnews and cnn. You can dvr and add shows to your list (which is how they are recorded). The difference is, unlike Hulu, if you didn’t record (add your show to your list) you won’t be able to watch it later. So add what you like to your list.

We have Hulu Live but we never tried YouTubeTV. They both have free trials that we planned to do. I forgot to cancel the trial of Hulu Live and we were charged so we never tried YouTubeTV, that was 18 months ago

We had Hulu live and it's just like cable. There are a few things you don't get, like ABC wasn't live but a lot of their shows were available the next day (but not all! ) on demand. We really liked it but it was $80 so you're probably not going to save money that route if cable is $75. Although if that cable package doesn't include DVR it's worth it to get Hulu, imho. We recently went down to Hulu basic, to save money, now that football season is over. We'll prob go back to live in the fall.

@slake82983 for the basic Hulu does it have all the shows from like cbs and other channels just new episodes show up a day later?
by (3.5k points)
@canned everything shows up a day later for sure, but it's not every show. For example, Days of Our Lives doesn't show up but some other NBC shows do.

@slake82983 okay I’ll have to look into it thank you
by (3.5k points)
Definitely. I was surprised at that. I can still see some things on the networks app on my phone so I'm getting by between football seasons when we need live back!

@slake82983 we have Hulu live and get live network channels. They are a day behind for on demand but come on at scheduled time otherwise and can be recorded.

@farnham right, that's the difference with live or not. Not every show that's available with live is available with basic Hulu. My daytime shows aren't available with basic. Days, price is right, Rachael Ray. But I can't really find a pattern

@canned CBS is very limited on Hulu because they have their own streaming service.

@evergreen18951 okay did you have a Roku tv? I’m just wondering if I can get it on there. Is it a separate app or does it run through the regular YouTube app

YouTube is just like Hulu live. Same channels offered. I just prefer Hulu at this time.

I have cable worked into my internet package since it was cheaper than internet alone. But I still watch my NBC shows and CBS shows and ABC on their apps. Shows just show the next day for free.  I also have the CW app where I watch Dynasty for free since Uverse doesn’t have it as part of this programming.

Hulu live is awesome! Has local channels and all the channels you need for sports etc. Well worth it. $75 seems like good price for internet and hulu!

I am going to start off by saying we have 3 "teens" and hubby loves to binge on shows. we just had to upgrade our internet to an 80 a month package due to being in overage every month for almost 4 months straight! Full internet tv is great for some but I think we would have been better off keeping normal cable. We did hulu live for the super bowl and it was good. we are keeping the hulu but downgraded just because we are not a sports family. our 10 year old is able to find more shows she enjoys on hulu over amazon. We have amazon via his prime membership which has alot of good shows.
