Payday means cash stuffing envelope time! I remember when I was totally oblivious about money and budgets. As long as basic bills were covered anything left was spend money. Not anymore!  did anyone else stuff envelopes today!? EDIT FOR MY ENVELOPES Zipper planner

New to the group And trying to figure out the process here. Do you guys not do online bill pay nor do you do your online bill pay first and then withdraw the rest of the money and put in envelopes?

@vuillard I am also asking the same thing.
by (790 points)
@vuillard you don’t do envelopes for bills as bills are set expenses and you can’t over spend on them Envelopes are for those things you can over spend on, groceries, date night, etc

@vuillard online bill pay and the cash envelopes are for variable spending (groceries, gas, miscellaneous, etc. ) and sinking funds (birthdays, holidays, vacations, etc. ) Think of sinking funds like a savings account.

If you guys are brand new, you should definitely first take advantage of all of miko's free resources. before i jumped in, i signed up for her email course and then read/watched every single thing she had on facebook, you tube, instagram, and when i bought the workbook - bbp central. good luck!

@pound7359 that's a great idea!

I actually do envelopes for bills and variable spending. My husband gets paid every week so I split what ever bill by 4 and pull out that amount each paycheck. Then about a day or two before a bill is due I go deposit the money back in the bank. It's a little extra work, but it makes the blow of a $478 truck payment, etc not so bad if it's only $120 a week.

Yes, I felt the same way! Now I’m like “ok, I owe my gas envelope $20 from next weeks fun envelope & I had to buy movie tix online, $26 needs deposited” it’s hard sometimes but worth it!

No, because my stupid bank closes at 5 on friday and I cant find a location that's open on Saturdays
by (3.8k points)
Can't you use an ATM?
by (3.6k points)
@bertero it only gives me 20s. I need 10s and 5s too. Otherwise it screws up my envelopes and I have to remember which ones I need to borrow from. It's a disaster. I've tried it
