I have a 19 month old son. I couponed and clearanced shopped like crazy for him before he has born. I have never had to buy him diapers since I have been fully stocked. Now, I am almost out of size 3 diapers(We only have a few packs of generic left that I really don’t like to use because he leaks out of them) He only weighs about 19 lbs so he is tiny - I am torn on moving up him to size 4 diapers since he is so small or starting to buy size 3 diapers for him. I no longer coupon and would try to get whatever deal possibly but their just so expensive! UGH! What would you other parents do?

I was in a similar situatuon and just bought more 3s. I found ways to get deals, through digital coupons, target gift card deals, etc. My son was in 3s for almost another year before he outgrew them. I tried going up to 4s a few times, but they were too big and he would leak.

Try to find a cloth diaper group that has starter packs on loan.

Aldi diapers work amazingly well, for us. We do a combo of cloth and disposable but have never had a problem with Aldi brand.

We had ours potty trained by 18 months. Still needed a diaper on our boy at night, but being daytime trained was fabulous! Not sure if it’s possible for y’all at this stage. Our trick was to run them to the toilet ever time they made that poop face when they were really little. Yep like 3 months old. It was a win-win. They got used to the toilet and I guess they just “always knew” where it was supposed to happen and look at all the poopy  diapers I didn’t have to change. Cha-Ching!

My little one is about 20 lbs, and I’m trying to stick with size 3 for as long as we can! I love Target brand diapers. The price is really good.

Oh and she rarely leaks with them. We use size 4 Target brand overnights for nighttime. No issues there either.

Try cloth? Reusable and you can sell them for some of your money back. Amazon has them. Alvas and mama koala are popular and cheap.

I do Amazon subscription, Costco during a sale or target for their genetics during a gift card promotion. My son is 2 and in a size 6. He gets night time diapers at night due to leaks.

Target brand are awesome and they usually give gifts cards when you purchase a certain dollar amount of baby diapers. One year I saved the gift cards and ordered all of his Christmas gifts.

My daughter is 2 and in size 4 diapers (we’re working on potty training) but I usually buy the diapers at Sam’s and it’s a pretty good size box and it lasts me about 2 months sometimes longer. Especially now that we’re working on potty training.

Start potty training! My daughter is 17 months and uses the potty throughout the day, we use cloth diapers at night and while we are out and about. No wasted money on diapers!

Anybody you could potentially trade with? A baby who needs 4s but still has size 3s?

I’ve found that Costco’s Kirkland brand is the best value and quality. Aside from that, shopping for diapers at Target when they have their spend $X get gift card for $X is a good deal! Otherwise Walmart’s big box of diapers is the best value. Stay away from regular grocery stores (Albertsons, Kroger, Ralphs, Vons) and pharmacy’s (CVS, Walgreens), their prices are always higher!

The Kirkland brand from Costco are the best! I liked them better than the Huggies I used for my first kid!

I don’t know if Baby’s R us is still around, but i had a coworker tell me he could take diapers and exchange them for a different size. Maybe call around and see if any stores offer the same deal.

2 of my kids stayed size 3, until they potty trained at 2 years old
by (790 points)
@janayjanaya I am worried he won’t make it to a size 4 weight wise  We have another on the way so they will be used eventually lol

@confident  I'm guessing you're right. my two younger ones were tiny and stayed tiny, might have to start buying - I'm sorry but I agree with many of the comments about Kirkland brand. if the older one can potty train before you give birth that'll help!

I found Luvs to be the best price for the best quality. I have tried all sorts of brands.

I used to love Target brand diapers. They were amazing and only $. 13 a diaper. They recently changed the way they make them and are horrible. I’m on the hunt for a new brand. We just bought some Hello Bello diapers to see how they hold up but they were $. 26 a diaper. It’s crazy!
by (790 points)
@marchioness we have some hello Bello ones. I like how soft they are but he just fills them so quick and I don’t consider him a big wetter

See if you can exchange your size 4 to 3, but I would start couponing again diapers are expensive. your right the cheap brands are not worth it.

Exchange the generic size 3 for ones you prefer and then trade your larger sizes for 3s. My son couldn’t wear newborn and I got mostly newborn at my shower so I exchanged them for sizes he could wear. I done this every time I ran out of the size he needed.

We have had the best luck with huggies and luvs. We are prime members so they give a 20% discount in diapers- they have a $10 off coupon for the diaper and wipes bundle on luvs right now. 198 diapers and 864 wipes for 39$ plus the 20% off for prime. There may be other options as well. They run a buy $100 save $20 or $30 in baby products as well. I got 3 cases of luvs diapers a case of huggies wipes and baby powder last month for $60.

If you have an aldi around you i suggest using there brand. We’ve used them for 3 years and love them. They are cheap(we’ve never had a problem with leaking) and great quality!
by (330 points)
@analisaanalise16 I second this! They are like $10 a box!

We love target brand diapers. If you use your cartwheel/circle app every time you’ll get coupons too. I almost always have 10-20% off diapers and wipes now in the offers “for you” section.

Smaller diaper sizes usually have more diapers in the box. Most places you can exchange unopened boxes. If you join the target circle and use the app, there is always a digital receipt on the app.

I loved the target brand! Also, sometimes they will leak out of them when they need to size up!

Exchange some bigger sizes for 3s or the brands you don’t like as well

Exchange the generic for a different kind of size 3 if he still fits in them. But I would only exchange 1 pack at a time

I would stay in size 3 because you get more for your money. I like Costco brand diapers

Target store brand diapers are pretty good and super cheap. Buy a small pack of size 4 and see if they fit before buying more. Or buy a pack of size 3 to tide you over until the little one gets bigger into size 4

Buy the size he is in, more diapers per pack with the smaller sizes!
