I use my all natural organic liquid soap that actually works and only use a tiny capful compared to what I used to have to use of store bought stuff. I’ve had the same bottle for a couple months now and I have a family of 5 and we live on a farm. Sometimes it feels like I have a larger family because my daughters change clothes multiple times a day ‍♀️.

@papandreou it‘s young living. I purchase the products and pour them into my pump jars I have. It makes 3 - 32oz bottles and each load gets 3 or 4 pumps. Lasts a LONG time and isn’t full of chemicals, kills the nasty stuff we don’t want etc. I have dealt with a hormone imbalance and adrenal fatigue for years and switching to natural products with no chemicals has made a huge impact for my health.

@papandreou yes ma’am. I have changed so much - slowly because it can get expensive. Makeup, shampoo, lotions, cleaning products, household item (soap, detergent, things like that), toothpaste, deodorant. I have also worked really hard with an essential oil blend to balance my hormones. It took a lot of trial and error but I finally figured what works for me.
by (2.4k points)
@papandreou yah I buy it from the website. I ended up signing up to sell it because I’m cheap and wanted the discount . I have a budget for young living every month it replaces a lot of our products and I end up earning free products based on my monthly purchases. I buy laundry detergent (about every 3 months), supplements, toothpaste, this hormone cream, oils, cleaning products. I don’t recommend their deodorant though doesn’t work at all! I found the pumps from this girl on Instagram. Let me try to find them again. It’s been awhile. Or in the meantime if you have old large shampoo bottles with pumps those can work but eventually you’ll need glass.

@papandreou I cant find her page anymore it was a random find but they do have the 32 oz on amazon too.  I just found them.

@papandreou if you know someone that sells it you should sign up under them to give them the credit if you decide to do the membership. If your serious about switching to natural products in hour home the membership is really the way to go. Oh - I use so many oils it could take me awhile to talk about them all. But I couldn’t live without my hormone support oils and the oils for cleaning, skincare, and fighting germs. But non oil products that I’ve replaced are toothpaste the whitening version and my husband likes the non whitening and mouthwash. The cleaning thieves product I use to clean everything from counters, toilets, showers, floors, I dust with it, a capful also goes into the detergent mixture and with all of that that little bottle still lasts for months! It’s crazy! It’s really concentrated so you only use a small capful. I also use the hormone cream 3 weeks out of the month. I earn all kinds of free oils every month. And now after typing all this I’m beginning to see that I may have a problem . It’s in my budget though

@papandreou I’ve never sold anything yet  except to family. I’m my best customer at this point. I’m too chicken to ask people to buy stuff from me. But I have gotten my family (parents, in-laws, cousins) to replace their products in their homes and that makes me happy they have healthy homes ❤️ and bodies now from less chemicals. They all love it.
by (2.4k points)
@papandreou I can message you. There is different prices based upon what you want.  I signed up and just got like the basics and a diffuser. Then I discovered the detergent and cleaning products after that. Then I was hooked.

I used to love tide pods but they tend to leave marks on my clothes  so we switched back to regular detergent

I also make my own. It's so budget friendly, works great, and has been the only option that doesn't exasperate my son's eczema. I make it in a 5 gallon bucket and it typically lasts 6 months (it would last longer but I have 3 boys and a husband and lots of dirty uniforms)

I use Tide. It is not cost efficient if you have to rewash your clothes to get them clean. Tide is the best in my opinion.

@stockwell3894 agreed! Plus, Roll Tide Roll!

I use Costco powdered soap. It’s super cheap and powder works best in my experience. It also smells nice-though not as strong as tide. We are foster parents with 4 bio kids. Our household size ranges from 6-10 people at any time. We do tons of laundry. I also live by oxi clean and spray and wash. Those two I think help to really keep our clothes stain free with so many dirty little people around. Lol

@galven76 A. Person do you mind sharing a picture of the one from Costco you use?

I heard pods are bad for the washer. I prefer powder, however, all the good coupons are for liquid and pods. If I'm in a couponing mood, that's the only time I will get them

If you use tide I for sure recommend buying from sams club a box of like 100+ pods is like $20
by (1.4k points)
@chasitychasm435 why have I never thought to go to my local BJ's for them? So crazy! Thanks for posting this and jump starting my brain haha
by (3.9k points)
@see20098 your welcome lol I don’t use pods but I use their powder from sams $14 for a bucket that lasts so far 8 months lol got to share the frugal tips

I don’t like pods because the get gummy if I’m not washing in hot. My guess is liquid is more cost effective. You can compare yourself when you’re shopping. Use the unit price instead of the price you’re paying.

I find the powdered version works best because you'll use less if you buy a measuring cup (at the Dollar Store of course) and stick to that measurement, I find its easy to "over pour" using the liquid
by (970 points)
@remontant I can’t control the spout! I think I press too hard then when I stop I always seem to be over the line on the little cup. I’m just sloppy I guess!

Pods work best for me. My kids 10 and 13 help with laundry. With liquid they use to much or not enough. Pods are worth the extra cost for me for the convenience.
by (740 points)
@secrest9 that's why I use the pods

I prefer the pods (depending on size of the wash) easy to account for detergent used and less messier than Tide liquid

by (2k points)
I use all free & clear pods. I get them at sams. A bucket of 120 is between $14-17. I probably get 110-105 loads from that because occasionally I’ll use two pods for a really dirty load. I will over use liquid. So even though you get more liquid for the same price as pods, it ends up being less efficient for me

There is a new green tide that’s cheaper has no scent but works as good as regular tide

I loved Tide until I learned how harmful it is to my body and family's body (inside and out). Now, I only use Norwex. It's about $. 15 per load and lasts months and months. The best thing (besides saving our budget), is that it is not harmful to my family.
by (1.2k points)
@mallarme I’m also a Norwex girl! I was skeptic when I first went to a party. now I’m a consultant lol
by (1.7k points)
@colby48901 lol, it's such a 180 of what we've been brainwashed to believe.
by (1.2k points)
@mallarme I agree! And it saves so much money over time!

I buy a cheap tide when it's half empty I buy a good tide and mix them.
by (1.1k points)
@remontant Tide Simply is their more cost effective line. Around the 10. 00 range opposed to 17. 00 or more for the original Tide in my local stores.
by (1.7k points)
@remontant it's yellow
by (1.7k points)
@remontant yes the cheap is yellow bottle not as thick as regular tide but when there mixed I find they work great

If you have CVS or walgreen save up your points or bucks. You can also use coupons. I actually just brought arm and hammer and really like it . I use a measuring cup not the cap it save a lot when I use liquid

Powder. I just found the 9kg bags at Foodmaxx for $19. 99 vs the $29. 99 for a 7kg at Costco ‍♀️ smells better and much better at cleaning so I feel like I’ve just found a mine of gold lol

One of my biggest savings was changing to a detergent that is not diluted. So much more bang for my buck! So now, when I add detergent, it is just 10 mL of detergent, then it gets the water from the washer.
by (1k points)
Erin, do you have a specific brand? I love to try a concentrated detergent.

@toothlike727 I would love to know what brand you use

Liquid for us. lasts a lot longer for the cost. We also use persil on bad stains though. We set it on stains and hard to wash stuff then wash it in a load and use tide for the actual wash detergent.

The plastic on tide pods dont dissolve fully so they get stuck in your washer and drain. My ex worked for as a laundry repair tech and found so many issues with them.

I used to use tide pods but they’re expensive. Now I make my own laundry detergent and it’s super cheap. the recipe is 1 box borax, 1 box washing soda, 1 box baking soda, 1 container of oxy clean, 2 bars of washing soap shaved (use a cheese grater). I mix it on a big bucket and use about 1/8 cup per load. It costs $20 for all the ingredients and lasts about 6 months.

Ecoegg! It's a game changer and very low cost, eco friendly and less mess and hassle  a lady in this group helped me discover it and I'm so thankful

@mazurek seriously? This sounds too good to be true. Do you mind sharing how long you’ve had it? (I’m a little concerned how excited I am about this! Lol)

@mazurek please share more information!

I bought mine off of Amazon. I have the 720 washes one so $50 for that many washes is a pretty good deal of u ask me
by (6.8k points)
@personification8156 I just got mine the other day and I haven't tried it yet. I watched YouTube reviews and read up on it and no one had anything horrible to say about it. I bought the detox tabs too. People say it's not a very fragrant smell, however you can always put some essential oils on some wool dryer balls or throw in a dryer sheet.
by (6.8k points)
Someone in this group had suggested it from a previous laundry post and I was like. no way! Same reaction

Tide liquid, pods often don’t dissolve great. Leave build up on your washer, and On your clothes. Furthermore some companies are putting claims that people who use tide pods (or other pods) void warranties in their washer.

I’d say liquid is more cost effective if you’re the only one doing laundry. My raggedy kids don’t give a damn how much they pour in there no matter how many times I’ve told them, so I stick to pods.
