Try a secured credit card. You put your own money on it and it gets reported to all the major credit agencies. It's what I used to build my credit because even though I had none, no one would give me a credit card. So that was the only way I did it until I was able to get a credit card. But you could be fine with just that. I use Capital One.

If you don't want to use CC's I would suggest a starter loan or something. Maybe check out Self.

I use my credit card to pay for gas & to pay for some of my school tuition that I KNOW I can pay back the second I charge my credit card. I’m 21 and my bank financial advisor told me that I should start building credit now. But my dad says to ditch the credit card and pay everything in cash.?

When I was 18 and got my first credit card, I would charge socks, then pay it off. I kept doing it over and over. It managed to build it!
