How have you dealt with termites in your expensive dresser without paying so much? We have never needed to treat termites but I hear it’s expensive.  And does this mean my whole house will need to be treated? Is there a way we can take care of the issue ourselves to save money? The one thing we tried was a solution/liquid thing we bought at the store. That didn’t work ‍♀️

I have never heard of termites being in furniture and NOT the house. Every time I’ve encountered them, they’ve been in the framing of a home. It can be expensive for a house to treat, but a piece of furniture shouldn’t be expensive at all. With that being said, you may have trouble finding someone that wants to come out for that, when they’re used to doing whole houses.

We are doing a refi and had to have inspection. We had one spot with termites, in the fascia. Thet treated the section and replaced the 2x4, it cost $525.

Are you sure they’re termites? Like i said, I’ve never heard of them being in furniture and not a house - unless you just got the furniture from a house that was infested.

@alisun The droppings are definitely termites. I thought this was odd too. We bought the furniture brand new from a furniture store years ago. We did have a termite issue in a part of our kitchen cabinet that vacuumed up and I no longer see droppings. We haven’t seen any termites anywhere else until now, in one part of my dresser
