Big changes are coming and I need advice! My boyfriend got a job offer with an amazing company and we are both really excited, but also very nervous about it. His current job is okay, but he works for a small company run by really immature people and works with people of similar mind frames. So, he's excited for a much more established company and better treatment, but it will require him to travel a lot within the country and internationally. We share finances so the changes are going to effect us both. So, in short, this is what all will be changing: Paid weekly instead of every other Friday Paid Per Diem when traveling $35 Phone Allowance every month So obviously when he is gone I will be spending less on grocery and his food will most likely be taken care of by his per diem checks while he is away. My main concern is the weekly paychecks instead of the biweekly we are used to. Does it make it harder to budget? Are there going to be months that are shorter than others in paycheck totals? Also, not budget related, but how the heck is this going to effect us?. we have a strong relationship and a lot of trust between us, but will being apart really strain us? We're not married right now because we are saving to pay for a wedding, but we plan to soon. What's your experience with your SO or spouse traveling for work a lot? Any tips? Anything helps. Thanks guys! :)

This is gonna sound awful, but after they're gone here and there for awhile, you start to look forward to it because you can deep clean, organize, take a bath, read a book, and not have to worry about another person for a bit. As for the weekly pay, I love it. I just budget weekly instead. But for his food while hes gone, I would budget that in, because per diem (at least for my husband) comes in his paychecks. It's not a company card or anything. So expect to be "paying out of pocket. "
