Well apparently closing out the budget isnt my thing! All my money is counted for but the ending and starting is always wayyy off! I have my main account and child support and a bill account plus cash envelopes! I am thinking i am counting the numbers twice! Any suggestions on how not to do that?!? Example my paycheck goes to main then i transfer my money to my bill account! I take out cash from my support account?!? Blahhh

Just don't close it out. Keep a running balance.

Be sure not to count any transfers. For example- you get a paycheck deposited to your checking account. That is income and you count it, but when you move that same money to your bill account, it is not income it’s just money you already have that you’re moving it where it goes. What I do and HIGHLY recommend is getting a gray highlighter. (Midliner makes one and can be purchased individually on Amazon). All transfers between accounts get highlighted in gray. That way at the end of the month those transfers can easily be seen and excluded from tallying up your categories. I hope this makes sense. Once that money is spent from the bills account it is an expense. Basically, transfers between your own accounts are neither an income or expense. It’s just adjusting your balances but you haven’t actually spent it. Keep at it, it does get easier!
