Ok guys, I've lived in So Cal my whole life and my bf is seriously talking about us moving to Chandler, AZ for his job. They would help with $5, 000 to relocate and he thinks we have a better chance of buying a home and what not out there, but honestly I don't know if I can move there! Are any of you from that area!? do you love it!? Is it toddler friendly!? (We have a 14 month old) Have any of you transition from So Cal to AZ!? Are utilities out there as high as Vegas!? Also, do they have first time buyers programs there!? Would we qualify since we're coming from out of state!? The only debt we have now is my 2019 Rav4 we got last year and a Citi car we will be paying off next month. I would really appreciate any advice you guys have to give.  please & thank you.

I lived in Chandler for 5 years, we loved it at the time. It does get really hot in the summer, the electric bills are higher during that time. Winters are AMAZING! It’s usually great outside. You can do “budget billing” with the electric company, they will take all the bills that you’ve paid all year and create an average for you to pay each month which helps. The Kyrene school district was the best one to be in when I was there, not sure if that has changed or not. I can’t speak to current toddler activities as I’m sure things have changed since I have lived there. Also something to think about is. since you have a small child and sounds like you are native to your area, do you currently get any child care help from family members ? It is something to consider given you would be moving and removing yourself from a support system as well.

I live in Gilbert on the chandler border. Love it. We have 3 kids. Good schools. We’re from Seattle so the cost of living was a HUGE factor (which you can relate to). Where does he work?!

I’m in Gilbert AZ next to Chandler. You cannot beat the cost of living. If your used to SoCal traffic you will think the roads here are empty haha

I haven't made that particular move, but as an army family, we moved 19 times in 20 years. You can find friends pretty much wherever you go and having a little one often makes it easier because everybody else is looking for friends for their kids. My brother lived in wet Washington state his whole life, but moved to Arizona about 6 years ago and absolutely loves it! It's hard to move several states away if you've always lived in one area. BUT, it's a matter of attitude. You are the ones who make or break a new location. What you're doing, getting info from others, will help with your decision. Good luck!

I live on the west side. I’m from CA. Much more affordable here, lots of things to do with the kiddos, especially on the east side (which chandler is in). Just prepare yourself for heat April-October. Otherwise the weather is perfection. And I’ve actually come to sorta like the heat
