Long post warning, sorry! Small win for today!Long post warning, sorry! Small win for today! So back in 2006 when my husband and I bought our house, the city required us to put down a deposit for utilities. An $800 deposit . They based it off of our credit at the time, which was good enough to buy a house but not good enough to waive the deposit ♀️. Anyway, fast forward 14 years to today. I go online to pay our bill and see a -$450. 14 balance. I almost lose my cause I didn't notice the negative sign at first and I knew our bill was only $349 this month (all of our utilities are on one bill). So I call, no answer cause of course everyone is shut down due to La Rona. I leave a voicemail and send an email. Get a call back within about 15 minutes and the lady tells me that the $800 deposit on our acct should've been credited back to us like, years ago. She had no idea why it hadn't but since all this La Rona stuff is going on they're using deposits to pay people's bills so it's one less thing they have to worry about. You guys, I could've cried. I was totally speechless. I literally have an extra $350 this month PLUS a $450 credit on our acct for next month. Choking back tears I kindly thanked the lady. Then. My mind started racing, what are we gonna use it for? Do we buy groceries since my kids are never going back to school and eating us outta house and home Do we put it towards debt Do we put it in savings what oh what do I do!? Well my husband's van only had $427. 01 left to pay off, and I already had $175 budgeted to make the regular payment so we just decided that the best course of action was to pay that baby off! 2 months of no utility bill, a little left over for any of the above, and NO MORE CAR NOTE FOR HUBBY! Take that La Rona Cabrona Huevóna win win! Wishing all of my fellow boss budget babes good health and well being during these sad and scary times. Happy to celebrate all the wins with y'all no matter how big or small
