How have you guys been budgeting for those waiting to receive an Unemployment check? Weve been using my husband’a pto for the past month but decided to file for unemployment last week. But now without knowing when will see a paycheck I’m becoming overwhelmed. This is his first week with only getting his 1 furlough day pay. Change pay due dates on bills? Or just ride it out and pay the late fees etc once we get the pay? Luckily I’m still getting a pay check from the school district but I’m only a part time employee so don’t bring in enough to even cover the rent.

I would reach out to each bill and see what programs they are offering. I am in Ohio been out of work 8 weeks and still don't know about unemployment. Many companies are waving late fees with special paperwork. No reason to rack them up.

@righteous you’ve been waiting 8 weeks to get a payment?! Oh my, I sure hope it doesn’t take that long  I’ll reach out to the companies. Thank you!

@lettuce yes because I didn't return to work until August from being off for 2 years due to a high risk pregnancy and an unhealthy newborn. I didn't have enough earned income established for traditional unemployment and the federal expanded program has not been established yet

We are experiencing the same thing with my husband's job. I have squeezed our budget as hard as I can this last month to put a bit of a cushion for the furlough week. Unemployment only covers one payment and we have not seen the additional $600 yet. Pay what you can on your 4 walls and call everyone else. You are not alone. <3
