Realistically- what is a rough cost of two adults going to Disney World and Universal studios? Recommendations on flights, hotels, packages, best time to travel?!

My co worker just got a package from Costco for $2, 000. It included flights, hotel, tickets to the parks and a rental car!

You don’t even have to work with a Disney specific Travel Agent. Travel agents can book Universal as well. And there are perks for working with a travel agent. A travel agent can get you early park admission to Universal without you having to stay on property. It’s not extra to use a Travel Agent.

I budget 2500-3000$ for flights, 5-6 day stay, and 2-3 parks at Disney. Then I only do HP world at universal and that’s 250$ish. I only book when they have a special of some kind.

My husband and I went to universal in October. We stayed at the Portofino which included express passes. We were there 4 days (not including travel days). We spent probably close to $4000 including flights, hotel, tickets, and food. This was our big trip before we have another kid, so we did what we want and ate what we wanted. We had so much fun and don’t regret it at all.

@lamartine it’s certainly beyond anything I can put in a short post but we put all our expenses on cc, open a new one every couple months for the bonus and with those we were able to get 10 days at Disney and universal for a family of 6 free. Personally for us, using cc was a way to get our finances in order and organized. I know it’s not the answer for everyone.

How many night are you looking to go for? When you say best time to travel, do you mean for weather? Crowds? I go to Disney quite often so I can definitely offer lots of advice
by (260 points)
@ahoy98 I was thinking 4-5 nights. We want to spend a couple of days at Disney and a couple of days at universal! Travel time as in best time to avoid crowds/when it’s cheapest because no one else wants to go
by (13.6k points)
@chickabiddy unfortunately there really isn’t a slow time at Disney anymore, it just gets busier. Historically, late January and mid-December are good for crowds. If you’re doing 2 days at each park, you’re going to pay quite a bit for tickets. With Disney the ticket prices get less expensive per day, the longer you go. If you go during the week, it will be slightly less expensive for the room.

That depends on how you do it. My family of four went last spring and we spent less than 2, 000 but I’m told that’s unheard of. We stayed 5 days, 2 days were parks and we stayed on Disney property

I haven't been to Disney but If you have aaa then go talk to them cause they took off $30 my Universal Studios tickets per person. AAA also saved us money on the hotel price per night

April is the best time. Kids still in school. Depending on your package to each park- hopper pass for Disney? One park only? 2 park pass for Universal? How long you plan on staying? Susan Lipscomb

I don’t have money-saving advice, but we did Universal for my birthday last year (as two adults) and it was an absolute blast. They gave me a birthday button and everyone treated me like royalty. We stayed on property and really liked the perks that came with that, but again, not super money-saving. A decade ago I did Disney in January and walked on to a lot of rides. It was the least busy I’ve ever seen it, but that was 10 years ago.

There’s a lot of ways to save for WDW/Universal. It really will just depend on what you can do and care to do. Flights I got nothing on that since we drive but as far as time of year goes really there’s no dead times but just less crowded times. Pick your dates and then review crowd calendars but they’re just guides. Don’t worry what they say. It’s guesses and a lot of times they’re wrong. They’re helpful to know what activities are going on in the parks and park hours. For money saving- I do the target red card debit card and buy Disney gift cards and save 5%. I use them to pay for the trip and for our meals and souvenirs while there. If staying onsite doesn’t matter to you, then you can def save money staying offsite. There’s specials and packages available via Disney and universal but be mindful of what each part really costs. Sometimes packages are not always cheaper. Usually ends up that room discounts save us more. If you’re unsure of how to plan and what to do you can use a Disney and universal travel agent. Food- we are not breakfast ppl so we eat in our room. And bring some of our snacks. You can pack your own food too. It’s allowed. We also don’t buy water. We bring refillable bottles and water flavoring packets and fill up throughout the day. You can get ice from any restaurant for free. Without knowing how long you’ll be there and where you stay you can spend $1000 or 10, 000 for two adults. Just really depends on a number of factors.

Just got got back from Disney with my boyfriend . and i go in January ! Just make sure the marathon event is going on ! Hotel-606 with Bfast included that helps a lot ! Flight- 285. 00 (were from CT) Uber- 160. 00 a piece (stayed outside of Hollywood and Animal) Food- I budgeted 300 but i used my 50. 00 disney reward card which helped me. Disney Tickets- 3 days with park hopper was 240 ( we took advantage of sucking up a time share presentation and got a sweet deal on Disney Tix)** without hopper passes the tickets would’ve been 346. 00 for three days
