I need advice please!  I filed a claim in my iPhone 7+ because it was freezing and overheating.I need advice please! I filed a claim in my iPhone 7+ because it was freezing and overheating. I’ve had it since it was released. They replaced it with the same model phone that freezes and overheats. I don’t want to spend another $250 deductible to replace it with another antiquated phone. Should I bite the bullet and trade it in for $150 and get the 11? I use my phone a ton for work and school because my iPad doesn’t have the capability of connecting a data plan (no hotspot capability). The payment would be $25 a month for the new phone for 30 months 0% interest. I’ve placed the phone in my shopping cart at least 10 times over the past few months, but never pull the trigger.

My daughter had a 7 that wouldn’t update due to issues with that model and they’d only replace it with the same one. I’d definitely upgrade.

By the 30 month payment plan I’m assuming it’s AT&T, how long have you had your replacement? You’ve been paying into insurance on a device that’s been paid off for a while now they should give you something a bit more new- if you have the time and energy, go through their loyalty department and see if there’s something they’ll do for you. I don’t know which protection you have but if it’s the around $15 a month even for 2 years is $360 and they wanna give you a phone with the same issues? I hate that we need phones and Apple is notorious for stopping phones so we’re forced to get a new one

If you can afford it, upgrade. I'm pretty sure that when this year's iPhone and new iOS are released, the 7 series might no longer receive updates.

I would buy a used one. 30 months it’s a longgggg time. I bought mine on Facebook marketplace.

I have the 7+ as well and my volume doesnt work, the apps freeze or just shut off completely. I am in the same boat I really dont want that bill increase. Mind you i have that phone, my daughter and my mom and we are all on the same plan

@whenever I’m starting to have the same problem with apps I have the 7+ as well since it was released. I didn’t think much of it until now.

@whenever I completely understand the not wanting more debt I’m in the same boat
by (3.7k points)
I was just going to let it DIE DIE  before i got a new one
by (1.2k points)
@whenever can you trade it in? Is it even safe to trade a phone in or a way to wipe out everything first?
by (3.7k points)
@gallard369 tbh it would be smartest to buy a new phone rather than trading bc they all will have the same problem
by (1.2k points)
@whenever oh ok I didn’t know

@whenever my 7 was doing the same thing and after months of issues I finally bit the bullet and upgraded to the 11 pro. Best decision!

When you file a claims on a plane they always replace with the same one and the one you receive will have warranty. But they will send the same one unless out of stock

If the replacement doesnt work they should replace it at no charge, that happened to me until they gave me a new one after 4 phones I returned.

Trade it in. u don’t have to get the iPhone 11, you can get the iPhone 10. IPhone will worth way less if apple release another phone and if u decide to keep the iPhone 7, the will be always be some problem that the older model phones will not work and will have to upgrade.

Ditch iPhone and get a Android. I've had a z2play and it's still in excellent working order. No issues and there's a Z4 play now. My Z2 cost me an entire 200$ going on 3 years ago.

I called AT&T and asked them about the trade in. They will give me $115 for my phone and a $300 credit over 30 months. I will be paying $15 a month for my upgrade. So I went for it! Thank you all for the suggestions and advice! You all ROCK!

When did you get your replacement? They have a year warranty on them. I replaced my husbands last month and had to pay $250 they sent a refurbished one and it’s freezing I called yesterday and they are sending another phone out for no charge.

@enolaenormity and pay $250 every time? ‍♀️
by (820 points)
Sorry, thought you meant through insurance. If you had insurance and there was no physical damage it would be a free replacement

The iPhone 11 isn’t any better than the 10 or the 8 besides the camera. Most things are the same. If you care about the fancy camera then go for it, if not get the X or the XS

I opted for the xr and like it better than the big bulky 11. Only thing better on the 11 is the camera.
by (820 points)
@brandes XR and 11 are the same exact size. 11 pro is smaller
by (4.3k points)
@enolaenormity my brother has the 11 and his is bigger than mine? So I’m confused. Maybe he doesn’t have the 11 like he said? Either way I don’t see a reason is spending hundreds more for a better camera lol
by (820 points)
@brandes he has the 11 pro max.
by (4.3k points)
@enolaenormity ohhh ok. That makes sense then lol
by (1.1k points)
@brandes I got the 11. Not the pro. It’s smaller than the 7 plus .
