Can we start a thread for cheap well balanced lunches/dinners? Family of four. I like to stay under $100 a week but I often challenge myself to make it to $75. Turkey melt on whole wheat, green beans, and a fruit assortment. grand total less than $1. 50 a plate. I’m going crazy trying to come up with new ideas for the kiddos.

If you have a rice cooker and like white rice. this is my go to meal for cheap, fast n I think healthy-ish. 1. 25-1. 5 lb ground beef seasoned with pepper, garlic salt and kikoman soy sauce add in a bag of frozen French cut green beans serve over steam rice. Feeds a family of two adults a 10yr old who eats as much as an adult and an 8 yr old picky eater but will devour this plus maybe leftovers for lunch! I think this would be less than a 10. 00 meal for 4.

Black bean burritos. I soak the black beans over night and put in the crockpot. I cook all day. Then the second day I cook again with onions and garlic. I puree them in a blender with a few chipotle peppers in adobo sauce. Spread this on a tortilla with cheese and roll up. You can freeze them like this. If you feel fancy you can add lettuce, sour cream and pico de gallo. We all eat these eat these at least once a week.
