I have two friends who relocated to Texas (Dallas, Austin) and they just moved into new build houses. They say it's the best decision they ever made.

I live in the Carolinas are you looking for a beach town or somewhere that still gets some snow?
by (400 points)
@spagyric I’m open to anything! As long as it’s a safe town, cost of living is good, and would be good place to have a family in the future.

@stheno alright give me a few and I got a few places lol

I live in Greensboro, NC. I love it here honestly, there are definitely beautiful neighborhoods here that feel safe. 4 hours from the beach and about 2-3 hours to the mountains

Over half of the people in the city I live in (NC) are from NY.

Keep in mind that because of the amount of people that move here from high cost of living states, it’s getting crowded and the cost of living is going up here.

@stheno we like it. We’ve been here 15 years or so. We live about an hour from Nashville.

I’m on Long Island too. Not going anywhere any time soon (due to custody issues) but I understand what you’re saying. It’s way expensive and I always feel like I can’t get ahead.

@biquadrate7966 I second this! While I’m not from Cookeville, I received my bachelors and masters from Tech and Cookeville holds a special place in my heart ❤️

I moved to NC many years ago and love it. It really depends on where you can get a job. My brother prefers TN. I like being a few hours from the ocean.

Don't come to Nashville. lol It's one of the most costly cities. It's a great city, but housing is crazy crazy! That being said. We do have a great job market. pre- covid. lol
by (2.8k points)
@brasil It’s so crazy that it’s pushing us up to stupid prices in Clarksville too! That 25 miles from downtown thing is also pointless when it takes 1. 5 hours on 24/65

The Chattanooga area is nice. Cost of living is reasonable and you are only 2 hours from Atlanta, Nashville and Birmingham too. It's also beautiful!

I grew up in South Jersey and moved around a lot in the Navy. When I retired I left San Diego where it was over $900 month for a 1 bedroom apartment to N. C. where my monthly utilities and mortgage is less than $1000 and I have a large back yard. just under . 7 acres.

We considered TN but ultimately are staying on LI. We’re planning to buy a house and the cost and taxes all kill me so we’re getting our chickens in a row while living with my parents.

I was born and raised in Tucson, AZ. The weather is hot in the summer, but I like it here. The mountains and scenery is beautiful. And it's got a small town feel, in a big city. There are tons of beautiful sight seeing in AZ.

TN is a good option as there is no state income tax.

We are on Long Island now also and have been considering moving. My husband was about to enter training for a very good job prior to covid. We are now waiting to see if that will still be continued if not we’re out of here.

Strong Islander here. Orlando. The developing construction/commerce is one of the fastest in the country, so job wise you can find work in most industries. The home you can purchase or rent for your money is awesome if you have a big family. Been coming down here for over a decade and I'm never bored.

Thanks for asking this question Ashley. I’m also in Long Island and planning to move out within a yr or 2. I love to live close to the water after living in the Hamptons for 13 yrs but at this point in my life I need a more affordable place. No idea where, though.
