Does anyone know if you apply for the Amazon prime if you automatically get a credit card with it? We closed our CC from them because we don't want it. I signed up for Prime again last month and just received the rewards visa signature card.  Is this something they just automatically do?

You don’t apply for Prime you just sign up and put in your own payment method. You’ve apparently applied for the card (they sometimes do that “here’s what you will save” ad at checkout on things to try to get people to apply for the card).

Wow. I probably just accidentally pressed it then, cause I do not remember that AT ALL.

@ljubljana It’s possible they never closed your old account and reissued a card when you rejoined Prime. I would call or check your credit report.

@archdiocese575 Hmm. I was for sure my husband closed it. I actually haven't checked our credit since we didn't want any lol is there a site to check it for free?

@archdiocese575 this was my guess too!

@ljubljana Yes, there are several places. I check mine through Discover and credit karma but you may need to pull all three bureaus. There I a place to get all 3 free once a year but I can’t even remember right now

Definitely not. You have to apply and be approved.

@rexanne8 No, we cancelled in January and actually got rid of prime. I only signed up again cause my hubs needed something fast and thought signing up was gonna make a difference. ‍♀️it didn't.

No prime is it’s own thing.

Well the card says Chase. We used to have one or my husband did before we got married. We closed it in January.

So. I just checked credit Karma, and apparently my discover card I told to close is still open ‍♀️ and there's another one I don't even know which one it is, but it's been open for 5 years.

I used to work for Amazon Customer Service and there was a box somewhere that you checked to request a Prime Rewards Card (through Chase. ) You would be surprised how often this happens. When ordering, be careful because the Prime and Amazon Store card both become the default payment method when they are approved, until you manually go in and change this. When you call, please be kind to the rep. They didn't cause the error. That is why I ended up leaving Amazon. It became way too negative and dealing with mean people started taking a toll on me! (I'm not saying you are this way, but when people are annoyed, it's very difficult to not take it out on the rep. )

PS. My guess is your amazon prime fee was also charged to this card. Just be sure to check. :)

@getupandgo thank you for that! And no, I normally don’t take it out on people I talk to. I’ve always held it in! Lol and ahh. It said I had 71 points already, and I haven’t even used the card! I wondered when they were gonna charged the $12. 99 fee ‍♀️ thank you!

I called Amazon today, and they said that our credit card was NEVER closed. Which was weird cause I really remember closing it. Anyway, that is why we got a new card ‍♀️
