Fiancé and I went to ShaneCo today to get his wedding band. Car conversation: Fiancé: I think It’s better if I use my card to pay for the ring Me: why? You’re gonna rack up interest on your card Fiancé: no, use my debit card instead Me: why? We have the money for it anyway? Fiancé: i don’t know it’s just weird counting money there. Moments before we pay for the ring: Total came out to be $365. 85. We were asked how we will be paying for it and my fiancé said card. then a split second later he says “you know what, we’ll pay cash” then looks at me  Guys you have no idea how excited I was to whip out those Franklins and Jacksons then I asked my fiancé why he changed his mind. If it was because there’s only four of us at the counter and he said he’s just not used to counting money like that. For the record I never took out all the cash I had I counted it in my purse then took out the appropriate amount to pay for it. He’s been very supportive with my new system and this only shows it even more. Poor thing he was worried about counting money in public and I’m here all excited to whip out our $$

Can you imagine standing at the counter with your envelope, slowly counting out each bill outloud? "Oh darn I need to start over. 1. 2. 3. "

@chantal yes! Love this. I found TBM about 2 months after my wedding but we still saved a good bit because we aren’t crazy spenders.

@aggarwal652 yes! Our goal was to save $7k max we’re planning to get married at the city hall then splurge more on honeymoon and one year anniversary! Our goal for our one year anniversary is 10k visit about 5-6 countries!

@chantal Ohhh we would LOVE that. We haven’t taken our honeymoon yet (a lot of unexpected family things) so it’s been put off. We make a year in May 11.

My husband traveled a lot before he met me. He was very frugal and loved to haggle. I found out through him that when you are paying cash for things to always try for a better deal. It worked on my engagement ring and our furniture when we bought our new house.
