I need to get car insurance. I haven’t had it for awhile because it’s SO expensive. Any car insurance for someone with a horrible credit score? $300+ a month is just ridiculous. I’ve always had it in the past and it’s required by my financing company. Help!
I need to get car insurance.

Depending on the state you live in Root insurance is not bad. I just switched to Progressive and saved $125 a month!

Try geico I’ve gotten pretty good quotes from them recently. on another note please make insurnace a priority! Coming from someone who recently (less than a month) got into an accident where the person at fault does not have insurance has been a mess! And now my insurance rates will go up and I have a claim on my record  Your finance company will also force place insurnace and it’s much more expensive than what you could find yourself

I didn’t know it was based on credit? In Wisconsin you get charged more if you lapsed on your insurance and were still driving.

Your rate is based more on your driving history than your credit. Maybe pull your dmv records to see if something pops up that you arent aware of. Also any violations over 3 years old, except dui, can be excluded in your rate calculation.

@shizue4 no I've been going back and forth with State Farm about this. They raised mine to 280 a month no accidents and I'm 59 years old. I've been with State Farm 33 years and they have taken the money out of my account every month never been late. So they determined it was credit my score is now 780 but 11 years ago I had a bankruptcy and that is what they based it off of. You can ask for a rewrite once a year where they will soft pull your credit based on this you can have a increase or decrease in your premiums.

If you’re credit is bad a broker can’t help you. Only the big ones can. Geico, State Farm, liberty mutual, progressive. I have the same issue. Mine is almost $200 a month

If the car is still financed, get insurance on it ASAP or the loan company can add it and it will be much more expensive

A lot of places won’t even insure you if you have a long lapse in coverage. Might have to pay a high price for a while then try again after a 6 month term of being insured

Depends on your state. For example, my friend just moved from California to Michigan and her car insurance skyrocketed. Apparently Michigan has some lifetime medical benefits tied to his car insurance that’s required? Something like that.

If you’re over 50, The Hartford. I think you get a discount if you’re in AARP. In some states you get a discount if you take a Smart Driver course (online it in class).
