I just received notice that my paychecks are going to be garnished. I owe $2, 025 and they are going to garnish $44 until it is paid(from my understanding). Can I do anytning about this? I don't know who to call. The paperwork has a phone number for an attorney on it and I also have the phone number from the collection agency. Does anyone have any experience with this?

You can not stop a garnishment unless you call the collection agency and pay in full.

Did you get any notices about this before now? It seems this was probably preceded with court dates or something.

That is 47 payments. If you get paid weekly that 11 months more or less. Longer if biweekly. I suggest a side hustle to make up that 44 your loosing

Garnishment is typically a court order, so unless you pay it in full there’s probably nothing you can do about it.

What state do you live in? Did the person whom is garnishing your wages, did they take you to court or what happened. I know in @bipartisan2land other money may be exempt up to the value allowed by law. The judgment debtor can file a Motion to Release Property if he or she has less than $6000 in a bank account that a creditor has requested to garnish. If the judgment debtor wants to object or raise exemptions to the garnishment, he or she should do this within 30 days of the bank being served with the Writ of Garnishment. If no exemptions are raised, the judgment creditor must file a Request for Judgment-Garnishment. This orders the garnishee to pay the money to the judgment creditor.

I called the attorney and worked out a payment plan and they let me pay that way. As long as a payment was made each month, they were happy.

You would need to pay it off or file bankruptcy to stop the garnishment.
